Mr. Foxer
That depends on what type of account you're talking about.
Guest Julius Quasar
I dunno...I guess you could write an [outside] email asking an admin for help. (I think at least one admin here has, like, a yahoo or hotmail or gmail account).Give 'em your account info.
"User"
Don't worry, the problem is not here. Just clearing that up.How do you get it back?Like others have said it depends on what type of account it is. Is it a message board account like SFO? An online bank account or anything that requires very personal and confidential information? Could you be a bit more specific? If it's a forum account I'd email one of the more active admins (or if that won't work, staff) on said site or message them on msn or another IM medium (if you have their info added)

DZComposer
Your best course of action is to contact the people with whom you have the account. Different places have different procedures. If the hacker changed you password, there isn't much you can do without contacting them (any hacker smart enough to change the password is smart enough the change the password recovery things like security questions and emails). Shinigami
All of the above; and frankly..just hope that it never happens. someone hacked my admin account on a really old star fox place I used to run on forumer, Arwing Landing (with no knowledge of the site that went by the name back then), and basically did something where I couldn't log into the admin CP and the skin was all screwed and unfix-able. plus, all the posts had been deleted...so as you could imagine its quite a pain in the ass; if you'll pardon the language. Guest DRL
It happened to me before, with myE-Mail address. How to get it back?Contact the service provider (Hotmail,Yahoo, ect.) and tell that your account´spassword has been compromised.Be warned that it is a relatively slow process,it took me a month to get my account back.Yes, the iraqi hacker had changed the password, secret question and everything, but FORGOT aboutthe extra stuff (intererts, registering place, MSN nickname)ect... So eventually, filling out that I could recover my account.Note that if they seem unwilling to do it at first, tell themsomething like "THAT´S IT!, I AM GOING TO GMAIL!" <(It DOES work). Also, try to find out 'why' your account was compromised.Actually logging in public places helps it, since you never knowif there is spyware active there....
