Your take on: James McCloud

The father of our hero. Lost in action before the games started, leaving his friend and wingmate Peppy Hare to raise his son. Dead, or is he?

What's your take on James? Do you like him, or dislike him? And why do you do so? And everything else related to this character.

I like him. And I would like him even more

if Nintendo actually explained more about him

in the past. I mean, sure, he is his 'undead' father.

(I call him 'un'dead because he is supposedly dead,

yet comes every now and then.)

...But, what about his life? Was he a good father?

  Were Fox and James as close as we think?

  To name a few questions.

I really like him. And I like how Nintendo has kept his fate ambiguous (whether he died or is still alive). That works with the story. I'd like to see him used well again. Perhaps though the next game could include some flashbacks to Peppy's younger days and we could learn more about his life and such. that would be interesting.

The fact that you can play as him, yet no one says -anything- about him in Command just makes me laugh. I have no idea what they were thinking, but it's fairly hilarious. I like to believe he's undead just so I can say that there is a playable zombie character in the StarFox series.

Anyway, I wanna see more backstory with him. Life with Vixy, Peppy, and Pigma. His relationship with Andross (if any), how he raised Fox. A prequel game featuring his Starfox team would be cool, too.

Fun fact: had James not died, the debt he was put into for commisioning the Greatfox would have taken 40 years to pay off.

Besides I -disagree- with you but that's mostly because one day I will have succeeded at burning the idea of Assault out of my mind.

As for James, I don't really see much of a romantic link between him and Peppy. Even if they are both single men with children they likely raised together at the same time following the young deaths of their wives, the way Peppy speaks of James is more in the tone of a long lost friend than a long gone lover.

in 64 he vanished into thin air after you escaped the explosion

in adventures you "hear" his voice talking to you,

in assault, the apparoid queen brought up James,  which is weird because they would have had to some into contact with James to get his data

and in command he decides to fly in when fighting the Angler Emperor on venom....

so again...the story say he is dead....BUT...he keeps poping up...

personally i love the mystery of James McCloud :P
