Kursed
okay besides the obvious that she was tacked onto the starfox universe because of poor reconstruction of theĀ Game dinosaur planet why do we know so Little about Krystal? Nintendo has had plenty of time to fix that plot hole yet they haven't why?
TheRedFox8
According to TV Tropes, she is the artifact. The developers are getting tired of her. Look it up there.
Dublinthefox
The reason why is because Nintendo is too busy with other stuff to think of more things for her.
evilwaffles
Right... and TV Tropes is canon source of Star Fox data? Personally I prefer her to have no back story, leave it as it is. It gives the community something to be creative with in their fan fics and discussions.

It gives the community something to be creative with in their fan fics and discussions.I agree with almost all that. It allows personal interpretation and that is a good thing. But it also allows for more potential for future games. And not just with Krystal, but with other characters as well (like Star Wolf, or General Pepper). And it doesn't have to be touched on a lot, just only somewhat. Sometimes less is more.

Krystal DOES have a backstory, it is just pitifully underdeveloped, and unlike everyone ELSE'S backstory, is NEVER MENTIONED, which makes it stick out like a sore writing thumb. Krystal DOES have a backstory, it is just pitifully underdeveloped, and unlike everyone ELSE'S backstory, is NEVER MENTIONED, which makes it stick out like a sore writing thumb.Problem, Robert? I don't recall me saying I was justifying them being lazy. MY PERSONAL OPINION is that I like the fact that the characters have ALMOST no back story, it gives people a way to be creative, and I like the fans' creativity. I never said that what they did was right, never said I did not agree with the fact they are lazy and I didn't say any other character doesn't have a back story (although I did say Krystal didn't have one, I'll give you that one). Personally I want to see more of a back story for the characters but it probably won't happen for a while.
Milkyway64
The reason is because we were never told anything. We only have a few bits and pieces that don't lead to anything absolute. It's this coupled with her appearance that lends her her massive popularity with fans. You'll notice a lot of artists and writers make up their own story for her. Personally, I agree with Robert and I'll say this is lazy and no good excuse to let the writing slide. However, to the rest of you, that's just your creative potential itching to get out and make something that makes sense for her....Well... Sometimes. Scott7
Definetly, Maybe a Visit to Cerinia in the next game will explain a few thing. I'm just playin around man, But it is still a sad Topic indeed...Playing or not, I still know where you come from. I have been hanging around too many topics with Krystal fans who can't debate, it's done a bit for my overall mood in this place.I'm not a negative nancy, I've just been fighting a battle that's gone nowhere.Ā remember the past, live in the prestent and never fear the futrue , because it never will or has existed . there is only nowWhat's this gotta do with the topic? Anyhow, it's pretty flawed. "Now" dictates the future, and the past was once yesterday's "now." Past present and future are all to be considered regarding anything. Milkyway64
But by that logic, it's always the future because as soon as now hit's, it's already become past, so that means past is now but future also now and *head explodes*
Samantha Weltzin
We know so little about Krystal because philosophy is confusing. But yeah. I think to truly answer that question, we'd need to get into the writers' heads and see the motivation (or lack thereof) for why they haven't done squat with her. We can speculate all we want, but none of us will be able to come up with a real answer without an official statement of some sort.

Personally I want to see more of a back story for the characters but it probably won't happen for a while.I am confused. You say you agree that the laziness is wrong, but you also say it is a good thing. You're just trying to manipulate what is factual into something positive, which the topic isn't even about. The topic is asking why we don't know diddly about Krystal, and the answer is simple: she is a lazily written leftover from a Nintendo 64 game. While all the characters do have a shallow backstory, Krystal's is the only one who has one that is flat-out ignored in the story itself. And FURTHER MORE, developed backstories do NOT hamper creative community efforts. Nay, the BEST of community contributions are the ones that manage to interpert a well-written character and expand on them while staying in the boundaries of the character itself. Instead of being given some dumb empty slate and allowed to do WHATEVER YOU WANT, you are given a set of rules and limitations that forces you, as a writer, to think creatively and adapt. So no, there is no justification for Krystal's lack of an acknowledged background, because 1: its lazy as hell of the developers to do that and 2: good community speculation is not directly tied to the "lack" of a character's characterization. It is at best making an excuse, and a bad one at thay.
