Ranger One
Okay, thought i'd make this thread to ask what everyone here has heard about the Nintendo Revolution so far. Here's what i've heard: From what i found at nintendo.com, the Revolution will have 512 MB of onboard flash memory, and this will be expandable by 2 SD memory card slots. It'll also have online capabilites (looks like Nintendo finnaly realized that Microsoft had the right idea...), and with this, you'll be able to download ANY game that nintendo has made for N64, SNES, and even NES. Supposedly, you MIGHT be able to do this with GameCube games too, but since it'll be able to read the Gamecube disks, I highly doubt that will happen. The Revolution will be ussing 12cm optical discs, will have wireless controllers, 2 USB ports, and built-in Wi-Fi access. A new IBM processing chip that currently code-named "Broadway," and an ATI gpraphics chip code-named "Hollywood," will permit better game experiences than ever before. (Of course, it's kinda obvious Nintendo will say THAT, but still, the fact that things will be improving on this console are still pretty neat.) It'll supposedly have cheaper games than the X-box 360 or PS3 will of the same titles, but I think that's just a rumor. Also, supposedly one of the first titles to launch will be an 8 player Super Smash Bros. Sadly, it doesn't look like there will be any StarFox games comming out with the Revolution at launch, but they still have at least half a year or more before it launches, so who knows. Anyone else hear something different about it? Or something i haven't listed here? Or just have some comments to make about it? Oh, and for the nintendo article i found most of this in, heres the url for it. http://www.nintendo.com/newsarticle?articleid=02ea1a40-ac09-4cdf-9548-91e5a4e78746&page=other

Ranger One
1)oh... never knew about sega having online capabilites, then again, i never really looked at sega's consoles to tell the truth. 2)The classic games being downloadable: Now that you mention it, you're probably right about that, the page Nintendo has on their site kinda hints that a lot of them will be downloadable though, or it at least it seems to. 3)As for the Starfox thing: Sadly, i can definently belive that. StarFox has kinda been a testbed for new stuff on Nintendo's consoles with the past few games, while other series like Mario and Zelda are their moneymakers. Starfox 64 tested the rumble pack for the N64. Adventures tested the graphics capabilites of the Gamecube. Assault tested them too, but in a different way: While Adventures focused on Detail, it seems to me that Assault tested how much the Gamecube could generate at one time. Guess we'll just have to hope Nintendo finds something they want to test right away with the Revolution.

Ranger One
Yeah, the 8 player melee has me excited. (I'd better start brushing up on my skills with Link, it never hurts to be good with 2 or more characters. I already rock with Fox, I one-on-one dueled a classmate of mine in SSB Melee a while back, I was playing as Fox, and he was playing as Marth. Took us over an hour to end it, he won, but he had almost 200 damage, so it was a close one... and we'd been doing a 3 life deathmatch too.) Almost.... one... year... till... release.... thought.... Can't.... wait... that.... long!!...
jam
8 player matches nice.....more people to practice agenst with fox, gandorf, marth, roy, and captain falcon but the usb port that would be copying sony with the psp and ps3 the wi-fi wirless stuff I highly doubt it I bet all of ya'll the wirless wi-fi capability is going to be like the DS at least with in a certain radius other wise if it is like they say in order to get the wirless wi-fi we are going to have to pay not only the store to get the system but also nintendo to get this so called net work and on top of that if some one in your house needs or wants to use the phone you have to get offline it would be a total inconvinience if they say it's going to be on a satelite or some thing like that that won't require you to be conected to the net your gona have to have a personal line so there is no interferice but guess what 45% of the time they try to say "have the system but if you want the online capabilaty you need to pay us such and such money"
Guest Super_cube
Well jam, I can assure you that the service from Nintendo will be absolutely free of charge but 3rd. parties may charge a nominal fee for it. You have to have a broadband connection anyway and by then, many more homes will have one. The only item necessary for most people to buy is a wireless router device which takes the place of the ADSL or whatever sort of broadband linker you have. That way you can just fire up your DS or Rev. and find a mate online as if he were in the next room; it's definitely not limited to LAN with this! SSBM, Tony Hawks and another game are being prepared for release time, so we'll be able to play online "out of the box", so to speak. With Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and others soon ready for the DS, it's looking rosy for the next 6-18 months. I think it's unfair to say that Nintendo have finally realised that online gaming is the way to go, because they have bided there time to be able to provide a service which will prove to be second to non in the gaming world and where the majority of people will actually use the service as opposed to even now were only about 10% of those people who have other consoles which can go online, do actually bother to! [speech] never trust what they alwasys say at first. wirless I higly doubt it a pocket pc or pda with wirless abillites would have to have a WLAN so there is no comunication interference WLAN means White LAN so you have to pay a company extra for giving you a line on wich to be on such WLAN's are kind of expensive depending on how good you want it if you want it for a pocket pc it has to be a good one becase you'll be moveing thats the pourpose of a pocket pc for traveling now if you want one with good power so there isn't inteferince so a plane could go over it and still nothing would happen to the comunication more power for your WLAN and traveling capabilites the more it costs the next thing the sd memory there are computers that can basicly read sd cards sd cards are most commonly used on digital camaras, pda's,pocket pc's,and few note books so if you wanted to change some thing boom you can change or modify some thing in that sd card I most garantee you all that this thing is going to be like the ds first they say you can connect over long distences but a liitle later it became 75ft. and it would most certanly be a disconvinience if it connected to a phone line so if you want to talk on the phone you ethir have to have the consule tuurned off or disconect the phone line input on the system

james mccloud
actually, the starfox series are well hip and hype. Nintendo knows that and they still have a lopt of time. my proof is that- -Yesterday I was chatting on msn messenger with someone I dont know. she loves starfox and says where she lives everyone likes it too. oh yeah, did I mention she lives in France? anyways, if you read articles you know japan and the rest of asia love the starfox games. Now if america loves it, and france loves it and japan and THE WHOLE CONTINENT OF ASIA loves it then who can say that the other countries dont love it too? And even if they dont thats about 3 countries and onen continent were talking about. that many people=big bucks. any wayts. if thats all true, which im sure it is, then I would think nintendo would be smart enough to keep the series going. In short, Almost definitly the revolution will have AT LEAST 1 starfox game thank you.

Inuyasha
Nintendo has stated that their downloadables will NOT be free, but I'm not expecting pricey. Try $5-$10. You can go out and buy an N64 game for $5 at the moment, but I bet Nintendo will try to make some profit for those who DON'T own an N64. And they're -trying- to convince 3rd parties to allow their older games. No results on that. Personally, I think that the line "Our games will be cheaper to produce that PS3 or XBox 360 titles" was a direct hit on the competition. They basically said "Our game will be cheaper than what the competition could ever hope to afford." Ouch. Talk about bashing, eh? But everything else seems to be pretty up-to-date. They haven't said anything about it yet. Which is wise, 'cause it makes competitors uneasy (I mean, c'mon thay've no idea as to what it's capabilities are) and gives them time to examine what the competition has to offer. I'm just amazed at the sive. 3 DVD cases on top of each other. Dang that's tiny.... And it'll have a CD loading bay (like your car's CD player), so I no longer have to worry about room for a freakin' lid. YES!! Oh--and I've heard that it'll have wireless A/V jacks. I've only heard about that once, though, so I think it's a rumor, but that'd be cool. Imagine--your console next to your bed, the TV at the foot of the bed, and NO WIRES INBETWEEN! As far as the Starfox series goes, well, they DID make 2 SF games for the Cube. I'm pretty sure it's not dead. Assault was just disappointing, really, and Adventures wasn't really Starfox, but hey-- they're still making them, which means that it's definitely gonna be around for a while. -Inuyasha
