Nova
Last night, As user was driving down the 402 highway, He hit a patch of black ice and spun into the ditch. He is okay and escaped unharmed, his car received minor damage. He got a tow to his aunts farm in the relative no-where and is basically stranded until further notice. He has his cell phone and is still contactable via MSN/Text. Posted at his request.-Nova

DZComposer
So I take the car isn't drivable. At least he is OK, and that is what is most important. Black Ice is like a hiding snake, waiting for you to step on it. We get it yearly down here in Texas, especially on bridges, but we don't get the obvious stuff. It kills because people don't think it is there.
Asper Sarnoff
As long as User himself is well, little else matters.
"User"
I did a 180 into the ditch between the west and east bound lanes so I failed to "do a barrel roll" as Nova asked me via text however the car is still drivable, but it needs a new front right bumper under the headlight as well as a couple of other things. This situation could have been a lot worse as there were at least 3 other accidents that occured at roughly the same as mine along the same 5 km or so stretch of highway. When I got out of my car there were alread police and tow trucks further up the road so help came relatively quick, the freezing cold and massive amounts of snowfall were a hinderance. This morning apparently had 170 collusions on the same highway alone. >_> There really wasn't anything I could have did to avoid this accident as I wasn't speeding or distracted or otherwise making a turn on the stretch of road (which was straight for almost a kilometre. Like DZ said black ice can strike when you least expect it and considering the last hour and a half of driving I did before this accident the roads were perfectly fine...well, I didn't think there would be any problems for the remainder of the trip.Right now, it's too dangerous to drive home because it's STILL snowing (a foot and a half already on my car) so I ended up working on my aunt's farm here for a couple of hours, Tough work farming is and two feet of snow in some parts didn't help much as I almost slipped carrying buckets of oats, grain, and corn (heavy!), I'll be going out again a bit later for more chores. The animals were also annoying - this needs no detailed explaination.

"User"
Thanks for all this guys it means a lot to me. Today I did two hours of shoveling snow and digging out two cars from being buried under 100 cm of snow that we got in the last 48 hours. I'm quite tired and hopefully the weather will remain the same as it is right now so I can head for home tomorrow. All in all, I've had a good time the past few days (except of course with the wipeout) but I'm eager to get back to work again. Also, I've imposed a moratoriums on all LQ trips and other long distance traveling for myself for the foreseeable future. It's gotten too out of hand recently and I've come to the realization that I desperately need to rethink priorities from this point forward and consolidate said priorities into something more manageable. Finally, since I am no longer technically "unavailable", this topic has served it's purpose. If you have any further questions please PM me.Thanks again guys. :)
