The shopkeeper and his abilities

We see the shopkeeper and he has no legs and levitates. I thought that he was cool, especially with his teleportation trick. The thing that strikes me odd is that no one else seems to have contact with him. Also, I thought that the thorntails didn't like the sharpclaw, unless he got special privileges. Krystal's staff is magical in some respects and I guess that means that the shopkeepers abilities aren't that far fetched.

But if he could achieve such powers, imagine if the other sharpclaw were able to do what he could. He seems like a more powerful sharpclaw and if he were evil instead of neutral, he may have made an interesting boss battle since we were robbed of such a treat when we confronted General Scales.

So what's your take on this guy? Got any hypotheses on what his powers are and if he is even tangentally related to the sharpclaws, or another being all together.

Since SFA is a Zelda clone, they should have given you the ability to steal an item, and then when you return to the store, the shopkeeper electrocutes and kills you. Kinda like how the shopkeeper on Link's awakening did.

That would be quite funny. Too bad they never forgive you in that scenario, or at least idk how to actually make them stop attacking me. I am talking about the forest shop in LoZ Twilight Princess though.

I thought the shopkeeper was going to kill me when I refused to pay for Tricky's ball. D:

Anyhoo, I don't really have much of a opinon on the Thorntail shopkeeper (BTW, his name is Shabunga.) other than I guess he reminds me of Morshu from the Zelda CD-I games.

He's MAGICAL!

Seriously he reminds me of a cheap parlor trick magician. Fancy illusions and not much else.

Your name is also changed to THIEF. :P

I always thought he was some kind of spirit TBH

I have to agree with that, although his maps and some of "his items" can be very useful. He should have given Fox some kind of a gift at the end, though... I mean, Fox bought almost everything in his store, and there weren't exactly a lot of clients around besides Fox. :|

I know, I doubt there are a lot of Dinos that shopped there. Most probably wouldn't even fit inside! lol

his aligince is with money, so he is nither sharp claw or coaltion dinsor forces

No!!! That's too low...More scarabs. *increase price by 25* Ok I'll sell it to you!

Or better yet, the "game room". Now that was annoying at times.

In any case, it appears as if the Sharpclaw actually see some monetary value to the scarabs. Remember how the guard in the beginning of the game makes you pay in order to pass his "station". Even the warpstone had only asked for a gift...that wasn't scarab related. (unless you count the scarabs you paid for it with) Rock-candy FTW!

The shopkeeper just seems like the kind of creep who really can pop up behind you at any given time, while not actually being a threat to your well being. Maybe except for financial well being.

info & guesses from wiki

The ShopKeeper, or Shabunga[1], is a character from the Nintendo GameCube game, Star Fox Adventures. He runs the ThornTail Store in ThornTail Hollow on planet Sauria. He is a rude, bad-natured, stone-hearted creature. He is widely considered by fans to be a thief, after stealing various things, such as the Hi-Def Display Device (original owner Star Fox Team), the SnowHorn Artifact (original owner blue old SnowHorn) and Tricky's Ball (original owner Prince Tricky). He has no legs at all and thus, floats like a ghost. He also has the ability to teleport from place to another.

â– Occasionally the ShopKeeper will mutter something about moving to Cape Claw.

â– From time to time, you see him in different areas, but he will teleport away if you get too close to him.

â– Instead of directly saying how much the item you want costs, he says "You pay this much" and shows the cost of the item in his gadget decorated as a Scarab. This may imply that he either doesn't know the numbers or he is just plain rude. The gadget is used to select the amount you want to pay for the item. If you enter an amount too low, the ShopKeeper will refuse. If you do this three times in a row, he will call you a cheapskate and tell Fox to leave the shop. Curiously, Fox can also pay overprice for the items, without any visible benefit.

â– He is one of the few dinosaur characters in the game to not have his tribe specified.

â– He's the only dinosaur that can speak to Fox without the need of a translator.

â– The Shopkeeper is over 200 years old, making him the second oldest character in the series, the first being the Warpstone.

At first I thought that the shopkeeper was a female, until I looked it up and I was surprised to see it was a guy. He was really annoying so I always tried to wack him with the staff but it never works! :x
