Guest Mr. Nintendo
The 3DS has been out for 2 months now and it's library of games continue to grow. Many of you probably have a favorite 3DS game already, many of you probably don't...but there is this one title that is STRONGLY recommended by me for you to try out either as a alternative to Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition or whatever you feel like. I call it: DoA: Dimensions is a follow-through game that takes place between the events of DOA1-DOA4, it shows some events that were NEVER mentioned before in any DoA game. If you haven't heard of what DoA is, it is basically like combining together Tekken and Virtua Fighter, only adding 100% more sexiness in characters. (Not dissing that Tekken or VF doesn't have any good-looking characters.) DoA itself like almost most fighting games have a plot and at times it will be very hard to follow if you're a DoA veteran like me, but for those who are new to the series or perhaps have never played DoA in a long time, it won't be a problem. In the game, you choose a character, each having his/her own fighting style (Which matters in the game, regardless if it doesn't.) and you fight against other characters and learn some of their backstories and relationships with other characters. Music - 10 The music in this game is really kickass although if you've played DoA2, you'll notice the music in Dimenions is from DoA2, only remixed...in a good way. (I don't why but most of the music I think is composed from Wii Music. xD ) I'll provide a sample of music for you to listen to, you tell me how good it is compared to it's original song. <-- Original song <-- Remixed for Dimensions If you are not a fan of Rock or Techno music, no problem, just go to OPTIONS and turn that volume to zero if you must. (Although I would have to be disappoint in you.) Sound - 9.5 If you think DoA sticks to English voices like some fighting games, you thought wrong. The characters speak in Japanese and it's very cute to listen to, especially to some characters like Kasumi, Ayane and many others. But BE WARNED, if you want to have a very good game...take my word and under any circumstances: DO NOT TOGGLE THE VOICES FROM JAPANESE TO ENGLISH, ENGLISH SUCKS BAD!!! The reason I hate English voices is because it makes characters sound stupid, act weird and for the fact THEY DO NOT FOLLOW THE SUBTITLES!!! If you're a DoA veteran, you'll notice that the game will have it's dialogue changed once again from the previous DoA games, I am not joking. The subtitles changed but yet, the Japanese voices sound the same. Here is some dialouge I remeber from the past DoA in a certain scene where Ayane meets up with Kasumi during a snow storm: "You always were the heroine." -DOA2 & DOA2: HARDCORE "You were always everyone's little princess." -DOA: Ultimate "You always get to be the heroine." -DOA: Dimensions Again, if you're new to the series, you won't notice any changes to the dialouge. Story - 10 In the past, I was always puzzled with why "This character" was always either upset at this "This character" or wanted vengence on them...sadly I never got a explaination from the game whatsoever. But upon this day, some of my questions finally got answered like why does "This character" want to do this or whatever? I felt like the game was literally attacking me with it's cutscenes and wanting me to keep my mouth shut about it...which worked almost very well. (Although I still have a few questions to get answers from though.) I won't spoil the story at all because...it's just too good to be true, spoiling the story would just mess the game up. Some parts of the story just may make you feel sorry or at least, make it breathtaking for you. If you are confused about the story or characters for whatever reason, you can always ask me as I have some of your answers. Controls - 9 Like Mortal Kombat, DoA can be very hard to learn when it comes to countering, pulling off throws or attacks for your opponet. When you play story mode, you are taught by the game how you can be able to conquer everyone and also helping you out when you aren't good at making the attacks. Once you got the attacks covered, be careful as they will be hard to learn and memorize plus you might get confused at which button you are supposed to push for punches, kicks, blocks and grabs. After I experimented the game for a while, I tried tag team mode (Pits you and your partner against 2 opponets...it's sort of like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom) and I found a flaw when it comes to switching your character. Apparently you are supposed to push Y which is the BLOCK button which makes if difficult and the fact no matter what you press, you keep switching. Hopefully it will not bother you for the most part of the game. Replay value - Medium-high DoA: Dimensions has some replay value. After you finish Story mode, you can unlock more characters to play as and unlock figurines (I will explain later), not to mention stages as well. (You think the Metroid stage is already there? Think again.) The figurines in this game is like using the 3DS's AR cards, you function your handheld like a camera and you take photos of characters in different poses and different costumes...minus the fact you can't really move the figurines or add another one to the photo. Figurines can be unlocked by playing story mode and some other game modes like Survival and Arcade, trust me they will be worth it. The costumes in this game may at first be like the minimum amount like DOA4 but as you wait, Tecmo and Team Ninja add more costumes to your games via Spotpass, not even costing a dime! The costumes in this game are good but most of them are from the other DOA games like Ayane's kunochi robe from DOA: Ultimate and Christie's Assasian suit from DOA3 (If you're new to the series, you probably won't notice at all or won't care.) 3D functionailty - Good The 3D in this game is very appealing to use and look at. (Although it does not work in cutscenes that were probably made with Windows movie maker or iMovie) It makes the characters more comfortable-looking and makes you literally blow your mind out like you saw it coming. The only sacrifice I found with this is when using 3D, the framerate for cutscenes and the fighting game itself drops to 30 frames per second compared to 60 frames per second without 3D. (Damn, now that's fast!) Overall score - 9/10 With the exception of controls, this game is a must-have, for 3DS owners, DoA veterans/fans or for those who are new to the game series or are new to fighting games. You will enjoy this game alot and will have your heart beating fast you'll want to get more action in the game. Also if you like, if you got my 3DS friend code, I would like to challenge you into a online match sometime.

Guest Mr. Nintendo
Button masher (I take it that is your method when playing fighting games?) Trust me, if you go button mashing in that game...it will take you nowhere but defeat. It takes %100 skills to ace the game and to get your opponet down fast. I would never go button mashing in DoA: Dimensions because pretty much your attacks will be countered and you'll get KOed easily then just playing wimp. It's sort of like rock-paper-scissors: Attacks beat throws Throws beat counters Counters beat attacks
