What to do with Krystal

Many of the threads about how Star Fox should be changed or what is wrong with the series have often eventually sparked a debate about what to do with Krystal.

So now comes the time to post your feelings about her as a single character, how she is part of the Star Fox team, and, most importantly, her role in future Star Fox games.

I have listed several possible options of what can happen to her, with an "other" in case I missed any.

I choosed other. What i mainly want to see for Krystal. Is that she actually gets stronger, and more tougher, and not seem like some innocent little vixen harrassed by Panther 24/7 and can't defend herself in a dog fight, when Panther is just playing with her. Also, fill in some plots holes, like one of those options stated. Make her more useful and actually contribute to the team a bit more then others. Keep her appearence the same...I just would prefer if Krystal had a Black flight suit, not a blue, and Falco would have a blue flight suit. But thats off topic a bit. I also want to see her actually point out important things that the player [Fox] needs to know throughout the campaign, like what Slippy does. He analyzes the shields for you. I want Krystal to like say. "FOX HES FIRING HIS MISSILES" and shit, be more helpful and try to make the player a little bit more aware of what he may be up against.

I was going to say "Just off her," but I decided I wasn't going to be cruel, for a change.

And with that in mind, retcon her, for god's sake. She's a bit of a "messy" character at this point. To be frank, she just seems sort of useless/annoying at this point. She doesn't seem to have a roll that isn't "comfortable" nor "fitting" at this point, and it would be nice if they could just go back to the drawing board and just...do something with her. =/

Retcon. Throw out the magic, throw out the mindhax, better explain her 1 year training into an elite pilot, make her do -a single damn thing- and give her a actual character.

Please correct me if I'm interpretting that wrong, but are those stabs at Panther? Don't make me go and re-explain how Fox is more scummy than he is in the regard everyone hates him for. =V

Which is Peppy's job. It sorta makes sense that she's useless because, hello, tribal women eating dino eggs =/= Galaxy's elite pilot material.

I really dunno what they can do with her that isn't already covered. Hints? Peppy. Life bar and engineering crap? Slippy. Ace pilot taking out enemies? (allegedly) Falco. What is left, really?

For me I would choose the retcon option. First give her a back story rather than just "a survivor from a doomed plnet." Second, keep the telepathy, but make it more useful like having her alert you to any incoming enemies. Third, giver her the ability to grow and change throughout the series, just as Fox went from a new pilot to a more seasoned one.

Other than that, give her more background story. We need to know what happened to her, her planet and what is her true purpose in the series. Otherwise she's just a random Dmasel in distress who happens to get rescued by Fox and is tragged along for the ride. Come on Ninetendo!

I think that what she has going on with her appearance is great, though I wish the Command look never came into existence......stupid pink suit. Other than that I like the character, though I think she could use more explanation with her backstory as well give her a little more character development, such as what kind of traumatic experience and changes did she go through after the Cerinians became extinct and how was she able to survive through it? Also give a more detailed development as to how her relationship with Fox started other than that part with him saving her. Also like what most people have said on here, she could use a role since she is member of the team like how Slippy is the mechanic, Peppy is the navigator and tactician and Falco is............um...........the ace pilot I guess. This is why I hope she makes it into the later games, so that we can have more explanations about her character. I know Command is the end of the Star Fox story-line, but if they make games that take place between other games, which is a possibility, that is where they can give more explanation about her.

I was actually talking about guns like for ground missions, then again I didn't really make that statement a friend of mine did. Are there more roles to a special forces team other than mechanic, tactician, fighter pilot and leader? Because I have no clue.

If they bother to keep her, explain her backstory, give her a motive for staying on Star Fox that isn't "omg my boss is a hot guy", and give her a function on the team itself, personality-wise and gameplay-wise. Please offer a reason for Fox loving her aside from "lol blue tits". I don't care if you want them to be a couple, but please have the courtesy of showing this relationship develop realistically.

That'd make her even more useless than you keep saying she is.

Just fix her up a lot, make her kill a lot more enemy characters, give her a sniping ability, allow her to enter people's minds and warp the hell out of them, but that doesn't mean she has to become a major bitch or a manipulative emo.

Seriously though, at least this one is a bit more....Interesting than, "What would you do if Krystal was your girlfriend?" Or something retarded like that. Now for me, I think she's pretty much a useless character. While I used to like her's and Fox's relationships, I now think that it is just a cheesy mess and that if the character doesn't have anything useful or interesting to offer, then she should probably be just thrown away. I mean think about it. Nintendo could probably get more things done if they weren't working on stupid things Krystal related. I swear I always feel embarrassed when somebody's watching me when I get to that dumb cut-scene in Starfox Adventures where Fox sees Krystal for the first time. So remove her from the series, or make a MAJOR improvement.

I completely agree. I mean, at LEAST on a temporary basis early on in the revamped plot. The Star Fox team goes in to have a good time after pwning Andross and that's when Fox falls in love and yeah, you get the picture. A LOT more realistic than finding her on a dinosaur planet of all places trapped in a giant crystal. I mean...geez...

...then when she gets older and the plot "thickens" she could resign herself to the team masseuse and listen to the team's problems at the same time!

...THIS works out much better than Krystal having mental problems. The more traditional falling in love and development of Fox and Krystal's character through their relationship.

No, because it still opens the plothole about how she got that good so fast (she shouldn't even be as good as she is between Adventure and Assault) not to mention it continues tearing into the massive hole Adventures as a whole was.
