In this topic, you list your 5 scariest horror, survival horror or etc. games (Or the series itself.) and you explain why they are scary and name a moment you found that was very scary to you (If you want to keep it SPOLIER-FREE, don't name a moment or use the spoiler tag.)

Here is mine:

5. Resident-Evil-Characters-570x362.jpg

Probably one of the well-known survival horror franchises out there (Despite RE4 and RE5), Resident Evil has certainly given me quite the chills ever since I grew up with the franchise. You take the role of Chris Redfield, Jill Valintine, Leon Kennedy or whoever and basically, you're trying to escape from zombies and solving some outbreaks which are usually caused by Umbrella, there is also some puzzles to solve in order to advance further in the game and...well, theres more zombies!! I wouldn't really consider RE4 and RE5 to be exactly in the "horror" boat as the classic RE titles but they do have moments in which you'd probably be scared the sh!t out of.

Scary moment: inset1_09_0311_residentevil.jpg

^ Don't tell me you're not familar with that scene in RE1...

4. dead_space_logo.jpg

It may have Sci-fi elements in it but don't be fooled, this game will definetly want to make you play your games with the lights on. Dead Space takes place in the year 2508 and you play as Isaac Clarke who is an engineer and is a little bit silent much like Gordon Freeman. (Clarke does talk however in Dead Space 2) You are lost in a ship and you're supposed to fight some hostile, grotesque monstrosities called Necromorphs which basically, the ship is infested with them. Along the way, you meet and fight more aliens who try to take you down and if you aren't careful, you'll be dead.

Scary moment: Dead Space has alot of scary moments in the game, but the one where I got surprised alot was when the Necromorphs appear out of nowhere and the loud music plays to inform you they're coming. It's sort of like the Tedis from Conker's Bad Fur Day during the "It's war" segment.

3.logo_silent-hill.jpg

Better known as "Resident Evil's rival", Silent Hill is defintely a good survival horror game to get. Following the canon storyline, you take the role of Harry Mason who is a writer and the father of Cheryl. For a vacation, he with Cheryl drove to a town called Silent Hill (DURR) and apparently before he saw a girl on the way, he crashed his car and lost consciousness. After he wakes up, his daughter, Cheryl is missing (Duh-duh-DUHHHHHH) and he is out to find her. In the game, you fight monsters in a alternate dimension, solve puzzles and find your missing daughter! The camera can be a b*tch at times but the gameplay itself is truely amazing, you'll wonder why it is THAT scary.

Scary moment: Although it is not from the original Silent Hill, Pyramid Head gives me the heebie-jeebies alot. Even since I fought him in SH2, I always thought I was gonna get sliced from him and the fact I thought my gun did nothing to him...D:

2. EternalDarkness2.jpg

And when you thought Nintendo and Miyamoto would never ever make a horror game, you thought wrong. Eternal Darkness is although considered more of a psychological thriller game, it has so many horror elements you'd wonder why Nintendo would never want to make a another scary or mature game. (OK, we got Geist 3 years after Eternal Darkness but Geist is a different story and out of the question.) You take the role of Alexandra Roivas (Did you know it's "Savior" spelled backwards?) who is a student from the universty of Washington that is trying to solve the murder of her grandfather, Edward Roivas. The gameplay is in 3rd-person and you're armed with a book full of magickal spells (No typing error, thats how 'magic' is supposed to be spelled) and you're fighting monsters, zombies and also solving puzzles. This game after losing some sainity for the character will cause some "Fourth wall" breaking effects and will include fake errors and anomalies of the TV or GameCube.

Scary moment: Besides the sainity effects, there is a scene where when you go to the bathroom after a chapter is completed, the tub is full of blood with a dead woman in it. If you happen to examine the tub, the camera shows the womans face and after a moment, it zooms in fast and lets out a loud scream which may cause you to jump.

1. logo.jpg

Made by the same company that brought Dead or Alive and Ninja gaiden, Fatal Frame is "Thee scariest game I have ever played so far.". Following the canon storyline, you play as Miku Hinasaki who goes inside a mansion in search of her missing brother, Mafuyu Hinasaki. Taking away the concept of using guns and melee weapons, you are armed with a camera (Frank West anybody? :troll:) and there are ghosts in the mansion who chase after you and try to kill you. Using your camera, you can uncover some clues and some hidden spirits who appear out of nowhere and may provide you a hint. I definetly loved the concept of using a camera to kill ghosts rather than just using a vaccum, gun or whatever.

Scary moment: Although they can be considered "Easter eggs", those eggs can probably scare you if not taken seriously. In FF2, if you let the game linger for awhile without pausing, the face of a child or adult will appear on the game screen of FF2. In FF3, if you let the game linger for awhile without pausing, one of the Handmaidens slowly counts up to ten. Not scary enough for you? Put on some headphones, turn up the volume and turn off the lights.

Let's see if I can think up five scary games.

DOOM 64 - The creatures in this game are actually scary looking, such as the Cacodemon not looking like a floating meatball with a mouth, and it throws stuff in to just really mess you up, like opening a door with two Hell Barons on the other side. Which, for those that don't know, Hell Barons look like red versions of the Hell Knights, have more health, and do more damage. As the game manual said, "These guys make the Hell Knights look like cabin boys." You watch me play that, and you'll hear me start swearing randomly, and yelling, "Run away! Run away! Notgoodnotgoodnotgoodnotgood, I don't want to die!"

Dino Crisis - Basically the same set-up as Resident Evil, except instead of slow ass, easy to kill zombies, you come across fast, durable Utahraptors. Also, much like the zombies did in RE, these will play dead occasionally, and instead of just standing up slowly and groaning when you get near, or biting your leg for minimal damage, which when you break it causes you to kill the zombie, these guys tail whip you flat on your ass, then pop up quickly, usually fully up before you even start to get up, and come after you with a vengeance. And of course there's the T-Rex, who when you first meet him is still the scariest thing that's happened in a game. I still hate solving that puzzle knowing it's gonna happen.

Playing as the Marine in Aliens vs. Predator 2 multiplayer - The levels were dark as hell, the kainde amedha could do a hell of a pounce attack (except the Praetorian, but she was armoured), the Yautja cloaking, after the Primal Hunt expansion, was better than the actual cloaking in the movies, and your weapons, while powerful, didn't guarantee victory, as a head shot by certain Yautja weapons, or a head bite, was instant kill, no chance whatsoever to survive it. And if you played the right game modes, nothing beat it for getting your adrenaline pumped. When you're the last Marine alive on a mutation mode, and every other player is a kainde amedha crawling on the walls and ceilings looking for you, your senses are so into it you're even trying to smell them, and you have one eye on that motion tracker and the other eye on the screen waiting for even a glimpse of movement. *sigh* Good times, good times.

SOCOM: Confrontation multiplayer - You play this game on the night maps, especially on ranked games, and you have never been jumpier. Same as AvP 2, the levels were dark as hell at night, becuase it was actually night and not a blue tinted day, but you no longer have a motion tracker, the enemies have more range, being a realistic shooter, and the game didn't have hit indicators, so if someone was far away with a suppressor, all you know is you're being hit and not really sure from where. Added with the fact the maps were usually massive, with so many places to hide, and they had sounds to mess you up themselves, such as crumbling concrete hitting the ground after a fall of several stories, take all that, and you got yourself some adrenaline pumping gameplay. When someone did shoot at you, usually missing, and those bullets start hitting the concrete or whatever you're near, you will shit bricks.

Aliens vs. Predator - The first AvP for PC is probably all around the scariest game I've ever played, especially as the Marine. When you're walking around with no shoulder lamp, just flares that you can only have 4 out at a time (and they make an aura that can actually hinder you if you throw them wrong), and the levels are so dark you can't see the hand in front of your face, and the AI is bad in a way that makes them even more frightening (They'd get messed up on the path to you since the kainde amedha can climb any surface, and would just end up dashing around the room at a bajillion and one miles per hour, the entire time screeching at you like some hellspawned creature, and your motion tracker is going off like crazy, and you're seeing tails, or spines, or a claw out of the corner of your screen, blazing away at them, with the potential for your gun to jam on you, and then they'd get behind you and take out half your health or armour in a single attack), anyway, they do that, and when you do finally kill them, if you kill them wrong, you can kill yourself with the acid, such as causing their body to pretty much explode right next to you, dousing you with their highly potent molecular acid blood, yeah, gg death. Also, just stepping over their body while they're bleeding out can cause severe damage, so you have to wait for their body to despawn, or jump over them, which is fine if there was only one, which is very rare. Also, they don't have set spawns, and in most of the game's areas, will just keep spawning indefinitely. And it doesn't get much better for the Yautja, as they don't have many ranged weapons, and the ones they do either use energy (pistol, plasmacaster, and disc if you recall it), can't be rearmed (speargun), or can become stuck in the wall and not return to you mid-fight (disc if you don't use recall), forcing you to use the ki'cti pa (wristblades), and while the Yautja is more durable than the Marine, and takes much less damage from the blood (due to the Yautja blood neutralizing the acid), it still causes considerable damage, and the kainde amedha have a farther reach than you, and can easily swarm you if you're not careful. Bottom line is, this game is scary ass shit.

I don't play many horror games, so I'm gonna have to narrow this list down to 4.

Doom 64 - The original Doom will always have a scaring mark on my mind, I was 5, impressionable, and it gave me nightmares. I still get the chills thinking about it. Doom 64 however, took all that, and turned it up to 11. I tried playing that game, and it got to the point where I was so freaked out I was shaking and had to turn it off. Never beat any of em, probably never will because of that.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent - I bought this on Steam during the Portal 2 Potato Sack deal, and I admit it's good, yet freaky. It makes you twitchy about how much lantern fuel you burn because if you stay in the dark, you will go insane. And it perfectly gives that feel of being hunted by...... something. Nothing is scarier than the fear of the unknown.

Resident Evil (GameCube Remake): I'd heard people praise Resident Evil for how scary it was, especially the remake, but I had only played RE4. So I bought it, and boy did I realize why. The atmosphere in this game is perfect for being scared. The music, the mansion, everything. You may know that zombies are in certain rooms, but you're scared of em enough to not want to go that way and take the longer route.

Dead Space: I never thought I would find a game that would freak me out as much as Doom did, but boy did this prove me wrong. Dead Space is more than just jump scares, there are moments in the game that are just downright disturbing, from the twisted Unitologists to the insane crew members that kill themselves right in front of you. And the Necromorphs know all the perfect places to hide, so you won't expect them when they butcher you into meat. Especially the Regenerator.

Left 4 Dead: When i first played it i was scared out of my mind since everytime i saw a zombie i just got scared and freaked out also the atmosphere was dark, fearful, and depressing which gave it even a more fearful gameplay.

I can't put them in order, but:\

- Half-Life 2 (More specifically Ravenholm)

- Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter PC

-You may be saying that GRAW wasn't 'scary', and it wasn't, per se, but if you want a fear reaction, when you can only take a bullet from a 9mm and not die, and you're trapped in a courtyard under heavy fire, and your whole team is DEAD, you are scared more than you can imagine.

Ya Definitely Dead Space 1 & 2 for me. Even when I played that game with friends and with the lights on, it still scared the hell out of me every 15 seconds. o_O

mfw furry gamers

Also, Fatal Frame 2 has at least 3-6 save points before that boss, chances are the player just didn't realize the blue laterns were save points.

What's wrong with furry gamers? It's not nearly as "bad" as something like the Furry News Network (FNN).

Anyways, Amnesia: Dark Descent is by far the scariest game I've ever seen. I'm no hardcore gamer but if that game isn't on a "Scariest game of all time" list than I'll be damned...

Doom 3 was pretty good at that as well though.

I like LJ Furry Gamers. Most of the idiots went to facebook and twitter or whatever, so while there is only a dozen or so active memebrs, who is left always gives 'paws' for thought. Seriously though, they are great. I acctually did a post about how I wasn't furry enough when I played with a local furmeet group online, and it seems they have a similar level of furry as me.

Back on topic, you're damned. I've had this long chat serval times. The 'hero' of amnesia is a bloody moron who is scared of flags and barrels. When scared and he's hiding, he stands bolt upright and makes a noise. He freaks out when he can see a monster, and the monsters look rediculous.

It has some good atmosphere, but when the character acts dumb it throws me out of the experience. I want the character to die for his stupidity.
