ultimex64
I came up with this idea not to long ago that the Starfox series has been "abused." I will list some reasons why I think and support this. Just remember, I myself still love the Starfox series and thankful that it exists. Starfox is revolutionary for having "3D graphics" thanks to the Super FX chip at the time. As we all know this started out the famous franchise. Nothing wrong yet. Now we are waiting for the release of Starfox 2, until all of a sudden it's now canceled. Why? Even Nintendo said that it will have better graphics thanks to an improved version of the Super FX chip. If Starfox 2 would have just come out we wouldn't have a franchise that would soon be screwed up. Now Nintendo has announced Starfox 64/Lylat Wars, so now we are waiting for that to come out for the now known N64. This is the real gem of the series and a lot of people are loving it. Now Nintendo announce something that would change the gaming industy forever, the Rumble Pak. But since Starfox 64 is a reboot, Starfox 2 was lost and the original faded from being official. Starfox could've been an entirely different game with the same on-rails shooting and all range mode. Plus it would've been just as good, if not better, and been released approx. 1.5 years after Starfox 2. This would leave the series open for Nintendo to continue making made by only first(and or second, preferrably first) partie(s). this would really save the series and made it better. Unfotunately it didn't go that way, in 2003 the series was detached from it's roots and "planted" into Hyrule so to speak. But this was the second most popular game in the series due to the awesome graphics, story, and Krystal coming into the story. Fans weren't very disappointed with the game, altghough they wanted one similar to 64. So, in 2005 the series returned to its roots. Starfox Assault was it's name and was the worst game. Sure the story and music were great, but the story was short. Starfox fans were happy when Command was announced. It's the second worst game in the series according to reviews. Although, the local wireless connectivity was a first.Starfox 64, the gem of the series, got a 2007 virtual console release. I not trying to say I don't like the series, make it sound horrible, or offend anybody. The Starfox series could've had more games and a better set up. I mean the G-Zero series was mainly managed by 3rd parties and it got more games then Starfox. The Legend of Zelda has 14 games with a 15th coming out plus it has more remakes and spinoffs. I'm not even going to start out about Pokemon and Mario. I really think the Starfox series was abused. The last thing we need is for it to be shut down. But things turned out the way they did and we can't change them. Remember, this is my opinon supported by facts. Your opinion may be entirely different. Discuss it with us and don't forget to vote on whether you agree or not. I'm sure glad anything of Starfox exists. Sorry for the short post earlier, my computer did something stupid. Thu'um
Intresting , but anything can always become "better". the problem occurs when two user's deffintions of a better star fox game differ. So sorry to say, thats about every memeber here. But i think the seires is fine, intill we get to command.
Drasiana
Of course it could be better. Star Fox Adventures and Assault were both broken by developmental problems (Rare being sold, Triforce Arcade failure). That's not a question of whether or not you liked it, but a clear indicator that the games were not all they could be. From Adventures-on the problem has always been unused potential. The games were never HORRIBLE, but they always sort of felt half-baked, like we could easily have gotten so much more. I'm sure there's a lot of fans out there who've always dreamed of a gigantic in-depth Star Fox game full of exploration and high-action space and foot battles, as well as a strong plot and good character development. Even the Fox/Krystal fans never got to see them kiss or really develop their romance on-screen. Every game post-64 has felt like the popcorn that tides you over until the movie comes on. That they're somehow leading up to a mind-blowingly awesome Star Fox game. Let's hope they are.
ultimex64
How do delete that second topic of "Could Starfox be a better series?" I didn't mean to do it. My stupid computer messed me up and already submitted it before I could get through with it.
Milkyway64
Derp didn't even notice this thread. We've been very long overdue for some real Starfox games. This has been discussed to death by fans of the new and old.
ARWINGCOMMANDER 3987
Of course it could! It still has the potential, but there are obstacles they have to overcome, like how to draw in a bigger crowd without changing the gameplay so much (Like what happened with Adventures), or properly developing their main characters (Unlike Command which butchered some of them almost beyond repair).
