psy_commando
While looking through old gaming magazine scans on retromags I found that : Slippy is very scary there And I found a brazillian magazine scan "Super Game Power" the 12th edition published in 1995. It feature some sf2 artwork I hadn't seen elsewhere, along with a high quality mugshot of miyu and that creepy sheep girl: http://www.retromags...ower-1995-n-12/ *edit* Oh and I think I may have found the first actual use of the term barrel roll , in the nintendo power starfox walkthrough :

dogpower12345zz
Whoa! Those are awesome I had no idea there was that girl sheep character.
DZComposer
The sheep is Fay. She and Miyu went through some changes. Miyu was originally going to be Fara, for instance. I'm not sure which builds are newer, the one depicted in the magazine, or the one that was leaked. I lean towards the leak, though. The caption under them says "New team members. Unfortunately, their names were not disclosed in the demo." We know from the leak that they are Fay and Miyu. I wonder if Miyu would have been "Mew" if the game were ever localized. Nope.
The sheep is Fay. I always thought she was another character. O: Miyu was originally going to be Fara, for instance. And Fay replaced Saru after the alpha version.
DZComposer
Another caption says "TIP: Some team members are imprisoned. Free them for help." This implies that the original plan was to have some of the characters unlockable.
Sabre
Oddly enough, just today I came across the old Starfox Assault special of Nintendo official magazine UK. Nothing we don't already know from what I saw, just ganced through it.

This implies that the original plan was to have some of the characters unlockable. I had never heard about that before. You can even see the little text bubble, in the picture next to the tip, with "Help" in it ! Does someone knows how to translate this ?

StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
But Fay is not a sheep! How does she look like a sheep at all to any of you? She's supposed to be a dog of some sort. Check out her ears for instance. Nice finds by the way. Slippy..... EDIT: Never mind my rant about Fay. Wait, does that mean they changed her species and redesign her from the ground up? DZComposer
It's Portuguese. Google Translation is what I used to translate those little bits. It isn't too bad, good enough to you to get the idea of what was said. I just don't feel like retyping that article into it. <3 Portuguese. It's like a mix of Spanish and French. psy_commando
Took me an hour, I even ran it through spellcheck and corrected mistake by the original author : ) Star Fox foi o primeiro jogo para SNes a utilizar o revolucionario chip SFX, que possibilita um visual totalmente poligonal em 3D graças ao seu rápido processamento de dados. Só no modo "duelo" Musica e efeitos sonoros são um show àparte Google Translate : Star Fox was the first game for SNES using SFX revolutionary chip that enables a fully polygonal 3D visual thanks to its fast data processing. No wonder that the climate in the company's high expectations for the launch of the continuation of this petard, which is scheduled for August this year. The Playtronic, Nintendo's representative in Brazil, plans to release it simultaneously with the United States. This is for a standing ovation. PEOPLE IN THE NEW PIECE It took work, but got off with a contact in Kyoto, a prototype of Star Fox 2. Apparently the game is much like the original. But soon the options menu you may notice the big changes. The key: this time you can play split screen with two simultaneous players, an amazing space battle Another highlight is the inclusion of two characters in relation to the original cast Lynx and Lamb - totaling five characters on the Fox crew MacLaud that can be operated. In the first version, you just played with Fox McLaud. The ship also has its revisions, may turn into a sort of Robotech (one drawing). SPACE WITHOUT BORDERS The control also improved. In the first Star Fox you were obligated to comply with forced scrolling, ie, always ahead of target to move the ship. Now the rotation became more fluent in all directions. The first phases of interest have been replaced by a system of missions, like kill four ships, destroy the target etc ... By that note, poor thing has not changed in SF 2. For example, the three perspectives, which remain the same as the first. CHIP OF THE STARS Talking about Star Fox and not emphasize the power of the SFX chip is like going to Rome, knowing Fontanne di Trevi and not play it a fad to make three wishes. For the second series, the engineering of Nintendo developed the SFX II with the promise of faster processing. Probably, I saw tons of alpha and beta versions. The most early alphas and late betas work, the "ones in the middle" don't ( at least to me ).
