Nintendo vs. Capcom

Why hasn't this happened? :\

It seems like a more appropriate match up than DC vs. Capcom and Street-Fighter vs. Capcom because they are both game companies, and it's not like Capcom and Nintendo haven't worked together before so there is nothing really stopping them.

Very valid point... Wait there's a DC vs. Capcom?

Really the only thing I've seen a Nintendo character be present in a fighting game that wasn't developed by Nintendo was Link who guest staring in the GameCube version of Soul Calibur.

Guest Mr. Nintendo

Wait there's a DC vs. Capcom?

So far, there's been rumors about it...this is what was found in the SNK vs. Capcom archive:

In non-related E3 news, we heard some buzz from Capcom a deal with DC that was close to completion (as of April 2006). In the original agreement, the first planned game was to be none other than DC vs. Street Fighter. At this point though, the licensing hasn't been finalized and we aren't sure whether this it's at a halt or is still in the works. We confirmed this news with both sides, Capcom and DC and discussions between the two was/is in the works. We really, really hope this game comes out, because as much as we love Marvel characters, DC characters are our favorites. Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, yeah, this would be awesome.

We reported two years ago that Capcom was planning on a DC vs. Marvel vs. Capcom and as we know today, this won't happen only because of the complexity in the legalities between not two, but three companies. Yes, it all comes down to money and the royalties that Marvel charges now because of it's current high demanded IP's, it's not as profitable as it once was.

^ But that is old news since Capcom has not said a word on it and neither has DC. (And the fact the article was from 06)

Anyhoo, if you're talking about a "Vs. Capcom" game crossover, then you've got a very, VERY long wait. I would seriously doubt Nintendo would even consider doing a game together with Capcom, even if they both knew each other alot. (And I think SEGA and Nintendo together just keep going with the Mario and Sonic olympic games...)

I agree, it'd be a lot more suitable. But technically, a Capcom character was in Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Due to the fact that Zelda: The Minish Cap was made by Capcom and starred Toon Link, it counts.

Sega Vs. Capcom perhaps, since they're both 3rd party companies on any console.

There are a number of issue legally and creativly. The only reason kingdom hearts happened was because Disney and square shared the same office, and thus the idea of a crossover was hammered out over a period of years. Street Fighter x Tekken has happened, but creative differences mean that there are 2 games being made. One from each.

Add in the tonal difference. Mario v the Nemasis? Not on nintendos watch.

When it comes to crossovers, the one most people have wanted for years is MK vs Street Fighter.

Capcom made the best Zelda hand helds ever. Although Capcom didn't make Toon Link (Since Wind Waker was created before Minish Cap) they did make Elzo the talking cap... Which I'm surprised wasn't one of Toon Link's taunts in Brawl. (Though he was a sticker)

^ Would be the best cross over.

If this is true...

During IGN's interview with Masahiro Sakurai, the legendary designer behind the Super Smash Bros. titles and the inventor of Kirby, we asked him about the possibility of a Capcom character crossing over into the next Super Smash Bros., which is coming to both 3DS and Wii U. Here's what he had to say:

"I can't say that it's entirely out of the realm of possibility that some Capcom character could appear in the next Smash Bros. The big problem, though, comes from the idea of trying to get characters from a completely different universe to fit with the style that has been dictated by Nintendo's characters in a fighting game.

"In fact, I actually think it's a miracle that we got Smash Bros. and all the Nintendo characters to work together in the first place. Especially when you bring Pokemon into the mix and a lot of the complications that are caused by that being an almost completely different entity on its own, it's really something. So this is something that obviously will come up more as we get started on the new Smash Bros. development, but keeping those things in mind I think is important."

They mashed 10 completely separate universes together and they were worried about integrity? o_0

Nintendo and Capcom would make a nice contrast. As apposed to the other vs games where the line between side A and side B seems to be blurred.

You kind of have to though. When link and spawn were in Soul Calibur it made sence. Hatchi (or whatever his name was) didn't fit at all.

Yes, megaman would fit, but then it would be nintendo v megaman. Maybe you could throw vuitiful joe in there, but Dante, Darkstalkers, I doubt Nintendo would let demons and hell beasts run around in their family friendly game when such things are considered morally bad in america.

You're not the only one with the idea:

if they pull an idea such as this off, it will truly be epic. I can think of a bunch of characters from Nintendo that fit these games perfectly due to their fighting styles seen in Brawl.
