I just found this while looking around on Steam. Valve is making a sequel to CounterStrike called CounterStrike: Global Offensive, and it will be released across PSN, XBLA, and Steam.

I actually really like CounterStrike, so I think this will be cool.

Well...knowing Valve, this new Counter-Strike game just might include a new update to the game engine Valve has been using since CS:S and Half-Life 2. (There's rumors out there that Valve may get rid of the Source engine and perhaps upgrade it to something super-advanced.)

Wait and see... Until further notice, that smells like graphic overhaul through the use of a newer engine...

Truthfully, I wouldn't be surprised at that. But you never know, Valve might throw a surprise or two in there.

Maybe some information about Half-Life 2: Episode 3 or Half-Life 3? xD

Optimism!

Although with the abbreviation of CS:GO, someone might mistake it for a portable edition of Counter Strike. xD

I wonder what "surprise" is around the corner...

Whatever it is, CS fans will complain, they always have since 1.5.

Also, the fact it's on Xbox suggests something CoD like.

COD-like dosent nessicarily mean its gonna be ba-- wait, the hell am i saying?? Of course it does!

However CS was never a game about a story, it was primarily a play on the phrase "here are some guns, they make loud noises and make things you point them at fall over, go effing nuts"

Only were they to toss in a story would i come close to calling it COD like..

Oh yeah and i also heard valve is designing it for things like 5v5 e-sports or compeatitive matches and tournies.... Which means if your a nerd that plays games, youll be an idiot to not own it, just sayin'.

May I ask in what way is Counter-Strike, Call of Duty like? Because I don't see how CS is COD-like other than being nuts for guns, spawn-camping, grenade spamming and etc.

Also, give Counter-Strike some credit for first inventing the 'Aim-bot'! :troll:

Then I'm an idiot I guess. Competative games bore me, with rare exception. As for designing the game for e-sports, alot of games claim that, even the much hated Brink.

It isn't, but that's because it's on PC. They tried to make it work on console and failed. The problem is aiming. Unless you design a game with consoles in mind, you have to have some kind of auto aim. The recent trailer shows that it will be cross platform play and have various modes. As games like Shadow Run proved, any FPS player with a mouse will dominate one without. So, either the design will be such that console players have a fair shake, or console players will be stomped. Since, as already pointed out, they are pushing the e-sports angle, that means gameplay can't be "Who can line up the head shot fastest?".
