Ravior_Stygian
Have you noticed that Fox is literally the only actually good pilot in the Star Fox team? (Unless we're talking Command.) They are constantly getting in trouble, and don't even have the intelligence to either use their brakes or somersault. I know this is to add to the gameplay, because it wouldn't be very fun if you're teammates were always shooting enemies for you, but is it really necessary for them to be completely helpless? It's especially a problem in Assault, where they rely on you to help them while on foot. Replay the Corneria mission. Krystal actually expects you to help when there's already two other members in the sky with her. Why can't they do anything? Why can't she do anything? There's something Nintendo should do if they ever make another Star Fox game (which some how I doubt. I remember reading that they aren't making them anymore because . . . uh . . . really no reason actually), and that is to give the teammates the ability to somersault, as well as give the illusion of them killing enemies off screen (they sort of do this in 64, but it's usually them killing only one enemy every few minuets or so) so that we at least feel like we're a part of an advanced team. As it stands, without Fox these guys would be screwed.
CrypticQuery
I would agree, but would it be as fun if the rest of the team was just as capable as the player? You'd just be flying there as all enemies are eradicated and there would be no one to save .

All they have to do is make the illusion that they are killing enemies off screen. They kind of do this in 64.

Wow...I missed that entire second paragraph - In that case I'd agree; an illusion of killing enemies as well as some non-brain-dead AI that can maneuver would be a welcome addition to the series. That and a complete overhaul on the plotline, but that's for another topic.
Salem
good point and in assault when you have enemies on your tail no help what so ever.
jesseboyd7
I think that the game makers expect you to do all of the work for hit points. The only characters that really helped was Falco, Bill, and Katt. Thats pretty much it.
Ravior_Stygian
Really there's no help required. It's so easy to either brake or somersault that's it's hilarious that these guys are incapable of doing it. The only time I've seen one do it is near the end of Corneria in 64, where Peppy actually does one while telling me to somersault. Then he totally forgets for the rest of the series. Dr. Orange
Good idea. That will add some realistic features if the CP's could do that.
myu
I agree about the on foot situations. It was always a pain in the ass for me to get to a good vantage point to actually help. What might be interesting was if a couple of your teammates were actually better than you, clearing out some of the enemies and making it harder for you to get the score you needed to unlock something. Or maybe if you could adjust their capability levels yourself.
Steve
AI, nuff said. It has been stated that Falco is a better pilot than Fox, yet his AI pulls a Slippy all the time.

Shadow Matrix
I honestly think, your teammates should actually help you out when your in a jam. Just hit a button and someone helps you out. I also think there should be a command button that like tells your teammates to form up and stuff. That way if a guy is being chased, he actually comes to you, instead of being a mindless idiot, flying away from you and stuff.
Rin
The on-foot rescue portions were ridiculous. And the launcher weapon was really the only one that could remotely save Krystal in a timely fashion. Though rescuing Slippy in the last portion of the Aparaoid Homeworld invasion was quite infuriating for me as well. It would definitely be nice if the AI was a bit better, and your teammates helped you out, and kept themselves out of trouble better. And like someone else said, it could make getting certain goals more challenging.
Ravior_Stygian
Actually it would be nice if you could play as them during regular missions, just as an extra thing. Like Command but with more traditional gameplay. It would be pretty cool to play as Slippy and kill Andross/Some other enemy with a name that starts with an "A". DZComposer
Be careful what you wish for. Making the AI teammates do more work means less targets for the player. That is why they don't seem as good of pilots as the canon makes them out to be.
Furygun81
As I posted in the speculation thread, here's an idea concerning your failure of a good team -Gameplay Features- You can gather some sort of currency along the way, and improve your teammates (finally they won't be so incompetent) There can be 3 adjustable things, and 3 levels for each. HP - Lvl 1 is normal, Lvl 2 is half of 3 gold rings, and Lvl 3 is 3 gold rings Lasers - Lvl 1 is Single, Lvl 2 is Twin, Lvl 3 is Hyper Targeting - Lvl 1 is standard AI, Lvl 2 is Improved AI, and Lvl 3 is Expert AI Each teammate can start with one attribute already improved Slippy - Lvl 2 HP Bill - Lvl 2 Lasers Katt - Lvl 2 Targeting You should head on over to that thread and read all of my ideas (I added some more if you scroll down from my original post)
Robert Monroe
Like DZ said, if the AI was actually good, then that means less of you playing the game, unless the game was naturally super-difficult and required good AI partners to complete. Furygun81
What about if you actually needed your teammates, and like you could split up and you have to make sure that they aren't damaged enough so that they survive on their own path. If they don't ('cause on their path they could like shoot a switch if they make it far enough) then the mission could be made a LOT harder for you (if it isn't shot extra enemies appear, a lot) Or there could be a mission where there's a Deceptor (speculation thread ^^) that cannot be destroyed, but it has to be defused. If Slippy's still alive, then he can go down and you have to protect him for 2 minutes while he fixes it. If he gets injured, or is not there at the beginning of the mission, it could take an extra minute for the Cornerian forces to transport an engineer there. And on a totally [un]related note during the Star Wolf fights they actually do help out by distracting the Star Wolf members, without your teammates you'd be bombarded by lasers, so I guess in a way if they're alive it's less work for you (also less points for you D:)

Once Falco defeated Leon. Of course he go the last shot in. I actually would like it if there was "squad" commands.
Furygun81
Yes it does appear if you wait long enough they actually shoot down their corresponding Star Wolf member (if the Star Fox member survives long enough that is) (hence Falco, Peppy and Slippy's lines of 'I got the last one' if their Star Wolf member they shoot down was the last one left) psonar had to get that to happen in his low score run on Venom II, and he had to get his teammates destroy the missiles in Sector Z so he didn't get any points.
