Gene Inari
I've been playing a lot of zombie games lately (and always have, really) and this is always a fun topic to think about. If there was a zombie outbreak, what would be your ideal choice of weapons? For the topic's sake, say 3 guns and some melee weapon. For me, it's all about logistics. My 3 guns of choice would be: For a rifle: An AR-15 that can chamber 9mm rounds. Pistol: A Glock pistol of any kind. Automatic: Uzi. They can all use the same kind of bullet, the 9mm, which is one of the most common and used calibers around. If I'm running for my life from a zombie horde, I don't want to have to worry about different kinds of ammo for different kinds of guns. I can just take what I have and use it however I need to. And for melee: Crowbar. Not only is it good for prying open doors, getting leverage on something, and the like. It's also good for prying open zombie heads if worse comes to worse. So what about the rest of SFO?
Dublinthefox
Well thets see... For me when it comes to a zombie outbreak, its practically nessasary to be equipped with both a pistol and a shotgun. As for melee weapons, I'd have to go with my signature weapon the katana. Vy'drach
For a rifle: An AR-15 that can chamber 9mm rounds. Automatic: Uzi. Why must you hate good guns... Also, the Glock and Uzi are not always chambered for 9x19mm, the Glock also comes available in 10mm, .380 (9x17mm), .357 sig, .45 ACP, and .45 GAP (GAP standing for Glock Automatic Pistol). The Uzi can also come chambered in .22 LR, .45 ACP, and .41 AE. Anyway, as for me: First and fore-most for zombies, an AK-104. Shortened carbine version of the AK-103, but still relatively accurate for a carbine. Chambered for 7.62x39mmR. Reasons behind it, the 7.62x39mm will drop someone, yet is still quite comfortable to fire rapidly. And the reason for the carbine version, it's shorter and easily maneuverable in close-quarters, and you don't need long range accuracy when dealing with zombies. FN P90 - 50 round magazines, compact, high stopping power, low recoil. Atchisson Assault Shotgun - When you're done fucking around, bring out the automatic, 20 (hear tell of 32 round magazines) round magazine fed automatic shotgun that can be fired one-handed comfortably due to extreme recoil reduction, and has a special grenade round developed for it (optional ammunition). For pistols, FN Five-seveN. Same round as the P90 so it has low recoil high damage, and the pistol holds 20 rounds in a magazine. As far as melee, fire axe first and fore most due to versatility, with my bowie and kukuri knives as back ups.
ballisticwaffles
To be perfectly Realistic, Close Range Melee weapons suck when it comes to zombies. there for, my weapon of choice would be the all purpose Halberd. http://www.nps.gov/m...rd_MORR1913.jpg Combining an Axe and a Spear, i can safely decapitate and eviscerate zombies without having to close in if i was using smaller weapons. For 3 guns, i would go with a Shotgun wiht both buckshot and slugs, a handgun for the wildly available ammunition, and something automatic and high calibur, for the stopping power as well as the sheer amount of ammo usually associated with one. However, in all practicality, i wuld only carry one gun as to not overburden myself

Arashikage
For me, I would have to go with for the rifle, an M24 Sniper Weapon System, or the M700, the civil and law enforcement variant. For pistol, I would have to go with the Glock 19 in 45 ACP And for a secondary firearm, I'd say the Taurus Judge is good for me, shotgun revolver for close encounters. Melee, I'd say a nice hatchet or something easily thrown, this way I can break most wooden doors, cleave in zombie skulls, AND if there's one last zombie and I don't want to waste the ammo, I'd throw it, then retrieve it. My reasoning: For the M24 or M700, I would like a long range rifle that's very accurate, bolt action is ideal, it forces you to make every shot count. For the Glock, what's more reliable than a Glock 19? I honestly love the feel of a Glock, the sights are awesome, and the entire gun is durable, it's the AK47 of pistols. For the Judge, what's cooler than a pistol SHOTGUN? It fires .410 bore shells, or 45 Colt rounds. As for the hatchet, well I'm not ever going to fight with melee, that's not a smart idea unless a last resort, so I chose something light with plenty of practical use. sniper
a pair of AA-12s cuz they're awesome and effective. melee, probably an axe. And last, but not least, some sort of handgun.
chaos_Leader
1) Remington 870 pump action shotgun. It's a wonderfully simple weapon to operate and maintain (handy in apocalyptic settings), shotgun shells are extraordinarily common (and they're not too hard to make by hand if need-be), and everybody who's ever played zombie-type games knows that a shotgun is the most effective zombie-buster in all existence. can be easily sawn-off if necessary. 2) Colt Anaconda 44. magnum double action revolver. As easy as it is to find 9mm ammunition, the tiny little fast-moving bullets have a huge drawback for zombie killing: they lack stopping power. Stopping power might not be an issue for our general law-enforcement or everyday security, where a bullet will cause damage no matter what, but in a zombie world, your weapon ought to pack enough punch to stop a rampaging zombie in its tracks, kill it dead in one shot. The more massive, slower moving 44. caliber bullets will stop zombies no problem, and the Colt Anaconda model is good sturdy weapon that is not nearly as complicated to use or maintain as semi-automatic varieties. 3) M1903 Springfield bolt-action rifle (with scope). Where precision is the name of the game, the M1903 Springfield is a good sturdy weapon with a long enough range to be used in a sniping capacity, while still being simple enough and durable enough to withstand the rigors of a post-apocalyptic setting in which the zombies will be dispatched. The M1903 Springfield is still a very popular civilian weapon, so spare parts will be easy to find, and thus the 30-06 Springfield round this weapon is chambered for is still fairly common, so ammunition won't be too hard to find either. Melee) Stanley Fubar Forced Entry tool This thing as it all: crowbar blade, sledgehammer head, battering ram, ripping hook; anything fierce fearless fighting folk need in a zombie infested world. Whether it's busting open a door to make an entrance, smashing frail zombie bodies into a messy pulp and/or disemboweling them, or crashing through a wall to make a quick getaway, this handy piece of hardware will see you through. For other utility duties, such as hacking down trees for firewood, I'd take a kukri knife like the one pictured below:
Dr. Orange
For me. Shotgun:Model 1100 TAC 4. A good style, and 4-shot magazine. That and plus a scope. Assault Rifle:M4 Carbine. A classic style of Rifle. 30 rounds per mag. and good firing distance. Pistol: Glock 37. An Austrian handgun with 18 shots per mag. Melee: Wakizashi, The Japanese short sword. Not too long not too short. Perfict for me! :)
Vy'drach
Might want to be careful with the M4 carbine, it's jam happy, liable to explode in your face, and the 5.56x45mm NATO leaves a lot to be desired in stopping power.
CrypticQuery
1) Remington 870 - A good all-purpose shotgun! I'd take it with the wooden stock though; if I was going to die I'd want to have the best-looking and handling tools! 2) UMP 45 - The successor to an excellent firearm; I chose it over the MP5 for the .45 caliber rounds; it would seem that it would be a bit better in dropping the zombies easier. 3) M1911 - A classic, really. The round sharing between the UMP and M1911 is also a plus 4) For melee I'd go with an axe of some sort; fairly sharp and good at breaking down doors! :P

Fox-Shot
Barret .50 for a heavy sniper, you'd mow through rows of them in just one shot. T88 for a standard sniper. AA12 for a shotgun. 2 Five-sevens. AR-15 or anything in the Automated Kalashnikov world will do for an assault rifle. For specialties, I'd like an RPG that somehow fires incendiary rockets. For a little something really odd, I'd like a standard police Crown Victoria or Dodge Charger with spikes welded onto the bumper guards.

Vy'drach
You intentionally picked the weapon because it's bad and liable to get you killed if not kill you itself? We gots ourselves a thrill seeker here. I like your style. Not choice in weaponry, but style definitely.
jesseboyd7
High ground would be the first place to go where theres less human populated cities. A small community/town would be best. I just now noticed the topic was about weapons during a zombie apocalypse. lol! For weapons. Short and longed ranged weapons. Shot gun for short ranged and long rang sniper rifle (for the small community/town areas when zombies appear).

Star_Dragon
Hmmmmm.... If anything, I'd take: 1.) Any sort of AK, so long as it's reliable and fires 7.62x39mm rounds 2.) Remington 870 Pump-action Shotgun 3.) .45 caliber Glock as far as Melee weapons go, I'd take a Katana. I won't need to have something for breaking doors down - i'll just blow them up with grenades and other explosives, 'cuz in a zombie apocalypse, the first place I'm gonna raid is a military depot. In apocalyptic settings, "stealing" is re-branded as "requisitioning." Get some grenades and explosives in a duffel, get some ammo with that, and I'm gonna find me a good vehicle like a bus or a truck and keep on rollin. The Shaper
I'm on an island near many smaller islands that are easier to hide on. During a zombie apocalypse I would probably not even have to fight. Worst comes to worst I would use a H&KG36 as my rifle, and a Beretta M9 for my secondary, and melee wise I would take that Stanley Fubar Forced entry tool that Chaos mentioned. Looks pretty efficient. But once more, on an island so the only way I would be fighting ZAWMBEEZ is if some moron purposely (or not) brought an infected here and killed the entire city in which case I would hunt them down first, if some carriers showed up and accidentally infected everyone, or if I am currently on the mainland in which my fist priority would be to get off. So a 3rd wepon would be not needed for me.
