Well my old one got busted and wouldn't work anymore so I went and bought a new one.. its a 3 button laser mouse though theres one problem it has a mind of its own... every so often it will immedietly jump to the corners of the screen or move to the bottom or top of the screen a lot when Im not trying to go either up or down or in the corners... so does anybody know how to fix this problem?

It could be your mouse pad, laser mice have a hard time with mouse pads that are transparent or highly detaled. The black lines changing quickly to other colors could be throwing off the camera or what ever its called, as for the transparent pads the leser could be seeing though it and getting confused by the markings on you table.

Im not using a mousepad, maybe thats the problem as well, but that wasn't a problem with my old laser mouse, it would work well without a mousepad anyway

Maybe your mouse contained the spirit of a real mouse that seeks revenge.

OH SHNAPZ!!!! =o

Well, have you tried manually setting your computer to recognize the hardware? Or just simply take it out and plug it in within two seconds.

If I take it out then I have to turn off the computer for it to work again... and I don't know how to manually set it.. most of the time my Dad would do it but he aint here in Tennessee.... oh I put my black mouse pad underneath my mouse... it still jumps to the corners though

First, check the lens on the underside and make sure there isn't a hair or other obstruction on it. You'd be suprised how much a little hair can muck with optical and laser mice.

Secondly, check your mousing surface. It doesn't need to be a mousepad, but be sure that it isn't a small, constantly repeating pattern or very reflective.

Third, did this mouse come with drivers? Did you install them? If it came with drivers and you didn't install them, do so.

If that fails also, give me the make and model of the mouse so I can troubleshoot further.

It didn't have a hair stuck in it... nor did it come with drivers... the problem was number 2 from DZ

Ive checked everything and figured out that its a very sensative laser... REALLY SENSATIVE.... I figured it out when I tested the surface its on... first no mouse pad.. it picked up the pattern of the desk which the old one would not... second I used the mouse pad, it had a small design I did not noticed till now, so that would throw it off... then third, I used a plan white piece of computer paper... yes, computer paper... anyway since it didn't have any design or anything on it it didn't jumped to corners it started to be working well... so I guess it was the pattern design that affected it...

It's after you went through My Computer, go to control panel, then see Add New Hardware and then from there, it's a wizard that guides you through to adding the mouse in. That's how I used to do it but then my computer hardwares are plug and play. Do you know if it is Plug and play compatible? If so, you prolly got a defective mouse. Hmmmmm.....just try all the methods out and see before you can change it.

well what is the trade(ing) for it? Mine is the cheapest of the Logitech Laser mouses.

well try to check if sensitiveiness can be adjusted, or something.

(My mouse does things liek that to sometimes, but it fixes after a Short while, when trying to move it and so)

Well, I'd figure he can prolly get a new one if all else fails. Maybe it's just the mouse. I had to do that with my router and it wasn't cheap either. >.>

I think I need a plain white or black mouse pad with no designs on it.. since I can see that this mouse works fine on top of a blank piece of computer paper

Cheap = bad. Well, normally anyway. Although I got a deal on my wireless laser mouse... only $15 for my Microsoft Wireless intellimouse Explorer 2.0. It's awesome.

And since when does HP sell computer components separately? :D?

And did you check online for drivers?

no online drivers.. yeah it might be cheap but its great.. except for its mind *will be bad trying to play AVP2 online with this mouse* I did find a wireless mouse and it was a great deal.. except for one thing about it that I didn't buy it.. it uses the USB Port... bad if I want to play online with my DS... anyway I need a blank surface for my mouse.. since its a sensative laser and seem to pic almost anything up
