I USE LINUX.

I DO NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT SHITTY IE.

:3

Unfortunately, I occasionally have to get on Windows such as when Watch_Dogs.  I might try playing around in Wine though, but first I need to properly setup my system before I put a lot of work into actually making things work.  :-P

I'm not surprised though.  :P  Cuz IE.

This is the greatest picture I've ever seen.

I'm not surprised. Microsoft needs to step up their A game if they want to compete with Chrome and Firefox.

They did.

Or at least, that’s what they THOUGHT they did.

I didn't understand any of that.

Microsoft paid some guy to make that anime thing cuz Microsoft thinks that doing so will make them moar "hip" and "in with tha times".  :V

Basically what's happening in that anime thing is that girl is supposed to be Internet Explorer, and that weird fighting stuff and shield stuff are supposed to be the different things IE has.  :V  And then the robotic cats are for some reason the bad guys (cuz apparently, according to Microsoft, robots are bad ;^; (I's a robawt fox ;A; I's nawt bad ;^; :-P)).  But I think those were basically supposed to be all the attack sites out there.  SO BASICALLY THAT IDIOT USING IE IS VISITING ALL THE SHADY WEBSITES AND PORN SITES.  Cuz that's the only explanation.  Especially for that giant robot thing.  :-P

Microsoft even went as far as to make a Facebook page and hire some random asian girl to dress up like the Internet Explorer girl and post random shit to Facebook (I've not read anything on there, so I'm not sure what is posted or if they still do this).  But that is their official mascot for IE now.  :V  And apparently they maintain two versions of IE, the standard one and then the anime girl one.  :-P  Frankly, I don't know what either are like other than shit.  :v

But anyways, I think all they post in their anime girl Facebook account is just about how "great" IE is.  :-P

Microsoft is stupid.  >_>

They also attempt to slander the competition in order to try and make their shit look good.

And yes, they hired the help of those random idiots from Pawn Stars.  Because, you know... actually I don't know.  Microsoft is just stupid.

JUST LOOK AT THAT STUPIDITY AND TERRIBLE ACTING:

And while I agree that a Chromebook isn't really worth it, I just think this is ridiculous how Microsoft has to dive to such levels of stupidity to try and look good.

Oh, and yes, that's right, Microsoft has not only an entire website devoted to slandering Google, but an entire YouTube channel as well, AND a store of merchandise.  :V

BUT, I am glad for Microsoft's stupidity, as it's helped to get people to finally bring gaming to Linux.  :-P  And while it's not there yet, things are definitely moving this way.  So one day, I can finally delete that Windows partition.  :3  But that wont be for awhile unfortunately.

There's a saying in marketing that the guy on top never needs to mention the competition by name.

Given this, the fact that they are specifically targeting Google is an admission that Google is eating their lunch.

But Microsoft is not dead and will not die any time soon. Microsoft pretty much owns the enterprise software market. It's their bread-and-butter. With no serious competitors to MS Office, Active Directory, Exchange, or SharePoint there is no way Microsoft will become completely irrelevant.

Look at it this way:

Sony, Apple, Nintendo, Google, Yahoo, AOL, Oracle, and just about any other company that you could say is a Microsoft competitor are all Microsoft customers.

Personally, I think that LibreOffice is better than Microsoft Office.

As for Microsoft Exchange, I'm pretty sure that GMail is just as good/better.  :v  Although I've not used Microsoft Exchange, so I don't really know (as well, I know it's more aimed at large businesses).

As for Active Directory, I'm pretty sure there's something just like that for Linux.  :P  idk though (I remember hearing that somewhere :P)

But anyways; I doubt Microsoft will become completely irrelevant for awhile, but one day probably, if they don't start making some changes.

And Google makes a point of not using Windows at all.  :P  They use Linux for everything (from what I've heard anyways :P).  :V  And I also highly doubt Google is spending money on licenses on Windows servers, especially considering how cheap Google tries to keep their data farms.  And on top of that, Linux is already the preferred system for server applications.  So really the only place Microsoft is still relevant is workstations, desktops, and the living room (although I think it's pretty much always been this way).

Don't get me wrong, I love Linux, too. But unfortunately, there really isn't anything that can, on an enterprise level, compete with the Microsoft products I mentioned. I wish it wasn't so, but it is.

That said, Linux does have a place in the enterprise, particularly in web and cloud applications and in databases.

Which things doesn't it compete with?  I know on the workstations they tend to be Windows exclusive, but the servers tend to be Linux exclusive.  :P

But things are starting to change; Linux is starting to get applications which can compete with Microsoft's stuff.  At least in my opinion anyways.  :P  Cuz I use things like LibreOffice and Gmail and I've never been unable to do something I needed to do.  So I'm not really sure what there is which Microsoft truly has over anyone else now.  As there's pretty much an alternative for every Microsoft product out there, and from my experience they all seem to be really good (the only Microsoft product I use now is Skype, and even that I don't really use too often (but there's also many better alternatives to that too, the problem with IM's though is that you need other people to use it as well so switching from one IM to another is pretty much impossible due to that; but considering how much I use Skype I might as well and just tell people if they wanna talk to me either email me or get this other IM :P wouldn't be much different from now)).

What I know for sure though is that in the next few years (probably next 5 or so) things are gonna probably be a lot more Linux dominated (in fact, the world is already Linux dominated if you look at servers, phones, and misc things such as GPS and those screens which advertise stuff).  But basically; on the desktop Linux will probably dominate eventually, as things are starting to move in that direction.  Of course, people are still using XP, so it might take longer than 5 years for it to actually be a majority.  :P  But I feel as if in 5 years pretty much all applications are gonna work across all platforms, allowing Linux to gain popularity a lot easier, as things are definitely moving that way.

As for all the Microsoft products you mentioned, I'm pretty sure there's a Linux alternative to all of them.  I know that LibreOffice is really good, and I personally prefer it to Microsoft Office by far.  As for the other things, I don't know what there is but I'm pretty sure there's something, as there generally is.
