Logo design, contest #2

Hi again. It's time to kick of the other contest I promised you.

This time tough, I'll personally make sure the judging process goes smooth as silk, and that we avoid the troubles we experienced during the first contest.

While we all know Starfox have their own logo, the winged fox, we have never seen the mark of their rivals, Starwolf. Therefore, the goal for this contest will be to design a logo for the Starwolf team.

The judges will be looking for ingenuity, symbolic image, and and overall well executed designs that is sure to strike the same amount of fear into the citizens of Lylat as the Jolly Roger did to the seafarers of the age of pirates.

Rules:

All submissions must be in before the 24th of May 24:00.

Collaborative works may be submitted, but only with the approval of all contributors. The exception being 3D renders where the creators of all models used have stated they are free to use for non-commercial renders.

The picture submitted must be at least "big enough" and of a "high enough" quality to be judged.

Submissions are to be posted in this thread.

More rules may be added if the need arises.

The board of judges will be made up of me, and two other unbiased members of this site.

There is no price, except the fun of friendly competition.

I think it is going to be more... Organized than the last one...

If you want me to go in again, I think I can do it.

Something I threw together in very little time, but it gets across what I wanted. I essentially went with a less is more approach, with the original eyepatch. And yes, it did get inspiration from the Foxhound logo from Metal Gear Solid.

Also, while looking at wolf logos to try and find something with the right angle on a wolf's head, google found this, which I think is funny considering the objective of the contest.

Download GIMP 2. It's free, and a great program at that.

Practice makes perfect. Believe me, when you start getting the hang of it, you'll wonder how you managed without. Unless you bought Photoshop that is.

But, is there really not more than a single participant? If anyone else plan to step in with a submission, then please say you're in now. If not, I won't have any choice but the close the contest.

One definatively doesn't have to be a graphical designer to make a decent logo, so I'll admit I'm a bit dissapointed.

Well, it's a nice design. But if you read the first post carefully, you'll discover that the goal was to design a logo for Starwolf.

2 of our teachers did not go to work, so

I had like 3 hours of free time...

It was not much of a 'original' itself -

it is based on the Star Fox logo.

The only diference is that it is a Wolf

and it´s wings are more dragon-like...

But it is WAAAY below anything I may

call decent art.

Sorry for dual-posting, but

here it is. Like I said before it was

done during my in-school-free time

and I was bored. Then it came to my

mind 'hey, was not there a competition

of a SW logo in SF-O?' but as much as

I tried to, I could not make a decent

wolf, or logo, or dragon wings.

Also, I wanted to make an 'Evil eye'

for it inspired by Sauron´s eye in the

LoTR´s movie, but these are the best

I could come up with. After cleaning up

the 'desing' with GIMP, I had three eyes:

pen-original, #1 GIMP attempt (which is the one

it has now) and #2 GIMP attemp, which is up

there with the original.

Oh well, hope it inspires better desings.

Made using eraseable pen, black pencil,

and cleaned up with GIMP.
