Mr. Foxer
We aren't your personal repairmen so can you please stop posting these threads? If you want help call a TV repairman or your cable company. But I will ask, have you tryed plugging the power cable into another outlet?

If you want help call a TV repairman or your cable company. There's no need to be rude to him (and everyone else), jeez. What brand/type of TV is it? You need to be more specific, Matt....and as Mr. Foxer said, you should try to plug the power cable into another outlet. The TV itself may just be too old. Heck, Plasma Screen TV's die in a few years or so (that's why they're so cheap). If you're using an LCD screen, it might be a "heat issue" from the screen, especially if the screen isn't able to cool down (due to it sometimes being located in a poorly ventilated cabinet/wall shelf)
Sabre
or it could be the auto turn off. Some TVs have that for people who fall asleep in front of them.

Yeah, you may have to reset that, Matt, or select the "Off/Disable" option for it.

Guest Julius Quasar
*hits Matt's TV, gets it working again* "...'EEEEEYYYYY!" (seriously, though, don't do that, not unless it's a 1950's Philco brand TV)

(seriously, though, don't do that, not unless it's a 1950's Philco brand TV) I lawled, Julius.Anyway, about the TV working, I dunno how to fix it, I tend just hold my electrics up with a knife if they start failing, which is why my monitor has a gash across its frame. Though that tactic does work most of the time. (The gash was put there the one time it didn't work, hasn't not worked since)
Sarita
There's no need to be rude to him (and everyone else), jeez.Actually, I agree. I think he should check Google before he asks us. You're more likely to get something off Google, and faster. And I do think posting this many topics asking for tech help is annoying. I'm pretty sure there's at least one general tech help thread around here somewhere.

Back OT, Matt, don't try to fix the screen/monitor yourself, you could seriously hurt yourself and/or wreck the TV and void any/all warranties. Call a repair man. DZComposer
What kind of TV is it? CRT (old TVs)? LCD? Plasma? Projection? Can't say for sure, but if it's a CRT, you could have a tube failure. It could also be the power supply. Since most TVs are not user repairable and have become disposable (there aren't many TV repair shops left), it is likely you will need a new one. Guest Julius Quasar
Your TV does seem a bit..."dated", and "budget friendly"...it may be time to get a new[er] one.Yours is a typical type of convex screen tv, you could probably get one just like it at your local electronics store for a good deal.If a riot breaks out in your neighborhood, just get one at a "5 finger discount"! (just kidding). A buddy o' mine had a tv like that (thanks for the pic), and he had similar problems as it wore out, got older, so he e-recycled it, and got a newer one. He said it would've cost more to fix than to replace.

Yep...they don't make 'em like they used to. I remembered seeing those old sets, and how you could buy a part for them to fix them yourself, be replacing a burnt out tube, or a burnt out coil. Those were the days.

Guest Julius Quasar
That's true. It's not so much that no one knows how to fix anything anymore, but the fact that everything made nowadays is designed so you can't do it yourself, you gotta bring it into a shop.Cars, appliances, yep...we used to make that stuff, and fix it ourselves...self-reliance is dying.
