WW is totally different from the rest of the series.

OoT's Hyrule is breathtaking. So much beauty in so few polygons. OoT stands up to today's games in that regard. And the music, Mein Gott, it is just masterpiece after masterpiece.

Honestly, you're the only person I've ever seen who HASN'T been sucked in to LttP. Such an AMAZING game.

I really don't see any flaws in LttP and OoT. They are perfection in gaming form, really.

And I dunno, TP kinda is a letdown in my experience.

I agree 95% with El Zorro. :D

Just the TP part I don't. I loved TP. :P

Oh no a boat I must sail around instead of ride a horse whatever will I do the series is totally unrecognizable.

OoT's Hyrule is pretty to look at. Which makes it all the bigger shame that there's NOTHING IN IT. 90% of secret holes have a chest and a Gossip Stone. Woohoo. There's only 2 major side quests in the game, and neither of them take you anywhere you haven't been before. A good looking landscape that was underused. The Music is was good, though. I dare say I like Hyrule Field better than the Overworld Theme.

I. Am. Not. Denying. LttP's. Quality. It is one of the best games of the SNES generation. A hallmark of 16 bit adventure. But its VERY BORING WHEN I AM NOT IN A DUNGEON WITH AN OBJECTIVE TO DO. You are not making any points. You are dancing around the topic using superfluous redundant comments. Ok I get it you fucking love LttP you can stop sucking its dick off.

I have pointed out the flaws of both games several times now. You are ignoring them, either because you are ignorant, or because your nostalgia goggles are on too tightly. They are FAR from perfect in many regards. Twilight princess is only a letdown to you because you have unreasonable expectations of it as a game and want it to capture your heart like OoT did. It. Never. Will. Judge it as its own game, instead of holding it up to the undeserving pillars you have placed OoT and LttP on.

My absolute favorite Zelda games are the three magnificent releases on the INCREDIBLE Phillips CD-I

cdi%20link.jpg-600x450.jpg

But in all honesty, the only three Zelda games I've been able to play are the The Legend of Zelda (NES), Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES), and the short Ocarina of Time demo that came with Brawl. I can't say that I actually enjoyed them at all really O_o.

But, I HAVE been making points my friend.

A. LttP is only boring TO YOU.

B. OoT ain't empty

i. Every inch doesn't have to be full o' quests

ii. The beauty of it is more than enough to inspire many :)

C. I am one of MANY who were disappointed in TP

i. You posted the low (by Zelda game's numbers) score it got

Also, please don't be so vulgar. We just discussing Zelda, ya don't need to be dirty like that to make a point.

LttP was boring to a good deal of people I know, including Milky, my brother, friends at school... so null point there. And it doesn't change the fact that boring or not, objectively a lot does not go on in between dungeons in LttP.

OoT is VERY empty. There is a LOT to look at but not a lot that actually DOES anything. Lake Hylia? 90% wasted space. Hyrule field? Unless you like Big Poes, you will never even bother covering every part of it, and an adventure game you SHOULD be motivated to cover every part of it, and be REWARDED for it. There is nothing to explore in OoT outside of 2 fetch quests where you trade items. Beauty is irrelevent, because TP has the exact same flaw: a beautiful Hyrule with nothing to damn well do in it.

And again: you are dissapointed in TP because you do not judge it by its own merits. You may not realize it, but you're just wanting the game to be the next big thing like LttP and OoT. Why are those the big things? Because you grew up on them. Beleive it or not, there was a large group of people who were dissapointed in OoT when it first came out because they felt it didn't compare to LttP before it. They, like you, did not evaluate the game on its own merits. Twilight Princess delivers one of the best stories in the series, the best developed character, actual chemistry between Link and his friends, some of the best composed ORIGINAL music, entertaining puzzle bosses, and a very beautiful and stylized art style, as well as almost every place being wonderfully detailed and unique to see. Even the WATER TEMPLE is easy on the eyes.

LttP doesn't NEED a lot to do between dungeons, as you instinctivley go to the next dungeon, exploring the world around you as you do. Frankly, not too many Zelda games have a whole lot of side-quests aside from MM.

Honestly, I explored EVERY INCH of Hyrule in OoT. It's far too grand a world to NOT explore! :D

On TP:

- Not that pretty. Dark, blurry, and overstylized IMO

- Not a lot of orginial music. Mostly remixes from prior games.

- Weak story, kind of forces a lot of it on you.

- WAY too boring intro. You have to go through long-ass training (Over an hour) TWICE, one right after another, before you can start the quest.

There, judged on its own merits.

And, I LIKE WW, but it's just so very different from the rest of the series.

Wow, I almost get a bit heated, but then this pops up in my iTunes (That's right, I bought the OoT OST!! k_e_tongue.gif)

So beautiful and calming... :)

Oh boy. You're either very uninformed, or trolling. I don't like either. LttP DOES need shit in between dungeons. You know why? TO HOLD INTEREST. You know, the same complain everyone had about WW? LttP is not exempt from it. The dungeons are not "instinctive", in some cases they can even be sequence broken (lol Dark Woods temple). If it wasn't for the fact they GLOW ON YOUR MAP, some of them would be real head scratchers to even reach. And even them some still are (herpderp Misery Mire). Majora's Mask set the standard for side quests. Twilight Princess had decent quests too, but they were very spaced out.

Grand a world. Right. Like the pointless splotches of trees in the obscure corners of hyrule field, right? Hyrule was dissapointing in OoT, thats commonly accepted among many Zelda fans. There were some good locations (Kokiri Forest, Goron City, Gerudo Valley), but Hyrule overall was a small park that you never had to explore more than 10% of, and even when you did there was nothing there to find. Wind Waker shows how to make world expansive and full of things to discover and explore.

And as for Twilight Princess...

-Too Dark, what?? If anything the game is TOO BRIGHT because of the BLOOM. (I got headaches a few times). Overly Stylized? HAVE YOU FUCKING SEEN THE NINTENDO 64 GAMES RECENTLY? Like, EVERYTHING in those are stylized out the dick. Link and Zelda are about the only normal looking designs around! Wind Waker was also more stylized than TP, obviously. Twilight Princess's art direction had some excellent boons, especially the Temple of Time and Palace of Twilight.

-Not a lot of original music, wat. Almost ALL of TP was original stuff. The overworld theme was a remix, and the Wolf Howls are all remixes, but this is also the game that fucking has MIDNA'S SUITE, which is easily the best Zelda tune in YEARS. Really, TP's remixes were par for the course, the same remixes every Zelda uses.

-Weak story, WAT. Twilight Princess is the first Zelda to actually have CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. There is actual personal conflict in why you are saving the world, and even if thats cliche, its done a hella lot more original than OoT or LttP was, which were stock fantasy save the world scenarios with the occasional quirk. It is railroady, but its railroaded done RIGHT. No fucking Kapora Gaebora to go HOOT HOOT GO TO HYRULE CASTLE.

-The entire opening of Twilight Princess is no longer than the opening of OoT until you meet Princess Zelda. You get a slingshot, you save some kids, you turn into a wolf, you do a dungeon. Woo. Par for the course.

Seriously, you must have not actually played much of this game, because you clearly don't know anything about it.

We've hit an impasse here. No one's gonna win, so it's time for all involved to drop it for the good of the others.

I got my points, you got yours

I got my Allies, you got yours

I've just never met someone who lives to point out the flaws in the best games of all time according to gamers and critics alike.

Have a great day :)

Majora's Mask. Had the best story, gameplay quality, and replay value of all the LoZ games, in my opinion. I thought the masks were a nice addition as well. :)

Link's Awakening would have to be my second fav. It's what got me to start loving the gameboy so much.

Link's Awakwning is pretty much the game that made me a gamer!! :D

And MM, oh man, so EPIC.

You ever 100% it?

I completely agree with this. Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time, and Wind Waker are my favorite Zelda games, but I like MM a little more for many reasons, including the ones mentioned above. I was very disappointed by Twilight Princess, but I can't say it's a bad game, just not what I expected. And I've never played a Zelda for portable consoles, so I can't really express an opinion about them.

I point out the flaws because I love the series. I don't blindly worship and take what they give us just because its Zelda. I Treat ALL the games equally. Favoritism is idiocy. That said, I don't live for it. Its not an impasse. I am seeing your points, and they're biiiiiiiiiased. I can fire up my OoT ROM and take screenshots if you want to show you the boring void that is Hyrule Field. Not to mention you haven't addressed a single one of my points on Twilight Princess, but that's not here nor there. You're just being blinded by the favortism that is disgustingly prevalent in the LoZ fandom, you're a sheep. You aren't evaluating the game yourself on its own merits, you're just agreeing with what someone else has said and repeating it.

Also, how can you agree with Yoshi? He's saying Majora's Mask is the best, but you've said previously that MM doesn't "hold up to" OoT. So which is it? :V

And since you love randomly posting music from Zelda games, here, listen to Midna's suite:

Geez...watching a conversation like this reminds me of the topics and conversations from younger fanboys arguing that FF7 is the bestest FF game in existence while not being old enough to remember playing it's predecessors the moment they were released and the expectations of those games in that era at the time. I also miss these long drawn out rants from him in reply to the once frequent "KRYSTAL OMG IS THE BEST STAR FOX CHARACTER! <3" topics that the KLA got in it's prime.

Having also played and beaten over and over most of the older Zelda games growing up (Zelda 1-3 and OOT) I'm going to have to agree with most everything Robert has said with respect to those games. In some ways it's tougher to compare series games (especially what makes them memorable) if you play them through all at once over a few weeks or so instead of playing them as soon as they came out.

You make some fine points, User my man. :friends:

I just have EXTREMELY strong opinions when it comes to Zelda. k_e_animesweat.gif

I like/love EVERY Zelda title (save that archery minigame thing ) except TP. It just doesn't work for me, ya know?

Like, it lacks that "Zelda-oomph" and just kinda really doesn't jive right.

Some of the choices made are a bit quesitonable, IMO (Wolf Link, Bigger Hyrule Field divided into sections, 2 Training sections).

All my opinion, of course.

An aside, if I may; does anyone have a copy of OoT with this Fire Temple Music?

It'd freaking creepy!

If I played this version in 98, I'd have nightmares to this day! k_e_eek.gif

Seriously, you have no idea how pysched I am that there is finally a Zelda topic chere! k_e_smile.gif

Oh please. User agrees with Robert, and you agree with User. Yet you don't agree with Robert.

Yoshi agrees with Robert. You agree with Yoshi. And yet you don't agree with Robert.

You're either one HELL of a idiot or tunnel visioned through petty rage that you incidentally don't pay any attention to what anyone's saying. Your reasoning for not liking TP banks on the first, though, because MM which you allegedly agree is the best has plenty of transformations. And Hyrule has been split up into sections since Zelda freakin' 2 on. Remember how A Link to the Past had a forest, mountain, and desert area in the light world? Remember how OoT had a forest, desert, and mountain as well? How about MM, which had those too? Or do you mean you didn't like how the grassy field was split into east, north, south, and western Hyrule? Congratulations, you're complaining about TP actually expanding on the relatively tiny world map OoT had. Real smooth.

Oh yeah, before I forget, may I also remind you that you've yet to address anything Robert's actually said and ignored it to worship OoT and ALttP? Because you've not.

Yeaaah, Zorro? You're being a twat now. Milky hits it right on the head: you agree with User, who agrees with me, but you don't agree with me. Herpderp wat. Twilight Princess lacks the "Zelda oomph"? YOU HAVEN'T EVEN PLAYED IT ALL THE WAY. Hyrule broken up? Wat? Do you mean North/South/East Hyrule field? because its just bigger. There's gorges and shit everywhere, but that's in other games too. Wolf Link? geuss what, he works. And amazingly well. If you'd actually played the game all the way you'd know that. Besides, Link's entire motiff in MM was transforming, and in LttP he turns into a goddamn bunny rabbit. In the Oracle games, he had to become a merman to do a dungeon, and using rings could become a fucking LikeLike or an Octorok. Transformation is nothing new here. And I don't even know what you mean about training sessions. Do you mean the Hero's Shade? Because 1: He's optional except for the shield bash. 2: He's a good explanation to Link learning new moves as he gets stronger. Great fairies did this in OoT anyway (remember the Spin Attack on Death Mountain? Sure you do). If you're gonna dislike the game, at least get a real reason to do so, not your fanboy blindness of Twilight Princess not being the game you wanted it to be. Honestly, this thread reminds me why I just PLAY and enjoy Zelda without committing to the fandom.

Also original Fire Temple music is awesome and I hate it was removed.
