More mature Star Fox?

So yeah, how many of you believe that star fox should be revamped and remade to suit more mature/older audiences?

Yes.

1. Go better with Fred's Star Fox animated series.

2. Make the characters more interesting to a wider audience.

3. Resolve certain plotholes that haven't been filled.

4. Add certain gameplay elements that'd be appropriate for it (First-person on foot missions).

5. Give the series a more suitable atmosphere (It's always been set in a war-torn galaxy after all).

Definitely needs more variety to it then just the main goals which almost always short-lived, though i wouldn't want it to get to the point where it'd be getting racial slur's and high level suggestive themes. I mean no one wants an imitation of the Fox Replacement For Gta San Andreas... >_>

I liked the last thread that was like this. It was interesting to say the least.

Alright, let's start with the basics.

1. Blood, maybe some gore for on-foot missions.

2. Bigger, louder, sharper explosions like those in Half Life. Ears ringing and all that.

3. A bit more hardcore (it takes fewer hits to kill you)

4. Throw some dialogue that isn't grade-school in there and some swearing as well. Instead of "Geez laweez, can anyone take care of it?" have "CRAP! LET'S GET SOME FIRE ON THAT THING!"

5. Maybe make the characters look like they're adults and not just 4 feet tall.

6. Deepen the relationship between Fox and Krystal?

7. Most importantly, CONSISTENT PERSONALITIES

Possibly a pornographic scene with Krystal?

Yep, you're definitely FoXXX, not an impostor.

The only games, from nintendo, that have gone "darker" are Zelda with Majoras mask, and metroid , with prime trilogy and other m (for what I can remember now). Aside that, unless nintedo sells the rights of the franchise, we won't see the "mature" you all expect.

Well, sure we're not going to see a Star Fox game rated "M", but that does not means we won't see a Star Fox game with a deep story, great character development and other stuff like that.

I take it you haven't played Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, that game dealed with some pretty intense stuff.

Nah. Maybe a LITTLE more, but nothing big. I'll :\ as soon as my space furries start bleeding like Mortal Kombat characters and swear in the midst of gratuitous sexual hinting around.

How about we fix the fuckin gameplay first, neh?

The only form of "darker" I would accept is in the vein of Majora's Mask/Twilight Princes or the Metroid Prime trilogy. Grimdark Starfox can otherwise go die in a fire.

It can't be as overwhelmingly bad as grimdark Sonic. *stomps on DVD on Sonic SatAM*

Yes, just some occasional cursing, blood, and some partial nudity but not too much.

Only that cartoon was pretty good.

No, maybe the kosher swears (An oh so EDGY "damn" might be okay) blood really shouldn't be showing up since it's a space shooter about talking animals, and partial nudity is a straight deny since all it'll do is multiply the number of Wolf fangirls and make the Krystal fans REAAAALLLY irritating.

ARWINGCOMMANDER does have a good point on how to reach out to old-school fans. I'd like to have the story mended and patched up

Sounds like LoneWolf wants an M-Rated Starfox game (like Gears or Halo or CoD in Starfox clothing)

I agree with Robert here, fix the gameplay first, then deal with the story. And also, am I the only one that doesn't like the idea of a Starfox FPS. Don't take away the uniqueness of Starfox by making it an FPS. Don't turn it into generic FPS #943. Also. I think the dialogue should push the limits, but don't make it all shitfuckcockdammitfuckyoubitch. And don't make the game all oh my life is meaningless emo fag poem dark (pardon my foul dialogue). just try to keep it in the gray. But you know what. Maybe this much fan service isn't healthy for a game like this (look at Command). If Nintendo wants to make a really good Starfox game for the older, more retro audience, maybe it should shut off all of the younger ones and all the casual gamers that play just two to three levels and just play something else.

yay at multiple quotes.

If you like emo garbage that has nothing to do with it's source material:

Sonic: Uncle Chuck!! I can't believe he's Roboticized!! Get me some prozack!!

Tails: Why am I replaced by a walrus with a backwards hat?

Sally: I fit in PERFECTLY with 3 video game characters who came from Japan! *drooling like an idiot*

Robotnik: I'm nothing like I really am.

And what's wrong with partial nudity in a Star Fox game? You're not okay with seeing Krystal topless but you are with her getting half her face shot off?

Think about what the hell you just said, then take a nice retrospective of Nintendo as a company and StarFox as a series. Seriously, do it. Don't read any further until you've spent at least three minutes doing so.

Okay, see what an utterly stupid, topsy-turvey, utterly counter productive and ballsy idea this is? Also, I love how you just mentioned Krystal, which is clear is all you want anyway out of this. God knows you don't want Slippy nude.

Feel free to come back out of your hole and try again when you have a basic grasp of the series, the company, and what you want out this idea versus what it'd contribute. Kaythanks.

EDIT: Oh, and about her face being blown off, that won't happen because she's a main character, but it HAS already happened to almost every boss in the series. And that isn't even including Andross, who literally has it happened to him to expose his damned BRAIN and eyeballs.

Dude,I agree...BUT THESE ARE MY OPINIONS BELOW!

1.Minor swearing, like the amount they swore in BFBC like this: "F*ck,enemies on my tail!"

2.Heavier atmosphere,or at least show a slightly darker side of Lylat,I mean COME ON,I'd bet Lyatian governemt isn't that perfect!

3.All gameplay problems fixed, maybe some on-foot missions (FPS) and space and vehicle missions should be Rail Shooter and TPS.

4.Some blood, like Milky said, don't want our crew becoming Gears Characters. No gore, maybe just a little blood, but no onscreen blood like CoD or BFBC2.

5.Deeper storyline, fixing plotholes and making character's backgounds more clear *cough* Krystal *cough*.

6.Action moments,nuff said.

7.As for S3x...patial nudity,or nothing at all,NO YIFFS.

Ok,if all of this goes according to my plan (Which, according to all of you,it won't) the rating for this StarFox Game will be...either a "HardCore" "Teen" rating or a

"SoftCore" "Mature" rating.

As the great Harry S. Plinkett said: "Who gives a crap how dark it is? My stool is dark! And the doctor says that's bad."

But yeah. "Dark" is overrated. It doesn't necessarily equate to "good." Mature, likewise, is different from "dark" as well. These are all different things we're talking about here. And the best thing? None of it really matters. StarFox could become more mature or darker, but it wouldn't really matter if Nintendo didn't put in good writing or character building. After all, Tommy Wiseau's "The Room" was dark AND mature. Look it up if you haven't heard of it; you'll understand why this illustrates my point almost immediately.

Point is, you can have good writing in something regardless of backdrop and mood. The most recent My Little Pony, as much as it pains me to admit it, actually has some good writing and character development despite being lighthearted and child-oriented. StarFox could do this too.

I, personally, would like to see a more mature StarFox, but that's not because I think it'd be better. It's because it would relate to my own personal preferences more in terms of mood. However, it would also be fine at its current level of maturity if the writers just put a little effort into it, which to this point they have not done.

A more mature Star Fox game?

I'm pretty sure most of this stuff was said before but I think a more a matured concept would be interesting, like giving characters a bit more depth then the "I'M GONNA SAVE THE WORLD AND STOP THE BAD GUYS". Also maybe adding a few cuss words here and there basing Star Fox characters on how some would act in real life? I think it would give it a more realistic feel, and of course, some blood would add to the effect as well.

But then again, if this becomes so far fetched to where it goes past to the original point of Star Fox and turns into the next Grand Theft Auto / CoD, then I disagree.

Why does everybody want swearing in the game? Swearing does little to actually enhance anything. You could end up with a Shadow the Hedgehog scenario where I wanted to reach through the screen and throttle the idiot. I mean maybe it might work when one of the characters (probably Fox, Falco or Wolf) say it during an intense battle but even then, I don't feel it's necessary.

As for blood, I think Star Fox has got on just fine without it. Again, maybe seeing the characters getting battered and bruised might work but as for an all out gorefest with head exploding and arms flying off... this isn't COD and I don't want it to turn into COD. There are enough people that worship that game. Why pander to their simple needs?

Nude scene with Krystal: NO! Build up her character as someone who can kick ass rather than making us all think she is in there just because she has boobs. I think a tasteful scene would be Fox and her sharing some time together and actually letting their love for one another go somewhere (because as Snake says, love can still blossom on the battle field).

I think a good way to take the series if you want a mature route is by doing some stuff with the story. I think you could actually build some good back story to some of the characters. For example, Fox and Krystal could still be haunted by their pasts. Fox could have James visiting him in his dreams and when Fox tries to get closer, he can't. Krystal could have witnessed some terrible events on Cernia so she would have to deal with those in some way and through these experiences, the two find solace with each other.
