It seems the Administrator has her own plans for the teams and will likely take over pitting Blu and Red against each other.

These are of interest to me. Looks like a wave system similar to L4D that likely end with tank battles, but also seems that buildings are based on a credits system similar to many tower defence games. Interesting. Also, apparently spies can sap the new bots. ehuehehe

Let the collaberation Between Rivals for the fate of the Common Mann's jobs... Begin.

Seems the Game is turning into more then just a competitive shooter, which is a change, I personally like. According to the Tf website, Mann Vs. Machine will be a Co-op based Tf2 Gamemode, Featuring different maps, ability's, and even a couple new enemys that differ from the Tf2 classes.

This Mann vs. Machine concept sorta reminds me of Killing Floor:

Upgrade your weapons and perks (Abilities in this case)

Fight an onslaught of waves (And the robots get powerful as the wave goes on)

6 players

Collect dosh from the robots

Only one thing missing though:

The 6v6 is like KF, but I doubt weapon and perk upgrades are permanent like KF, and instead will be like Juggernog, Double Tap Root Beer, Deadshot Daiquiri, etc. etc, and how you bought new guns and/or Pack-A-Punched the ones you had.

Well, that dashes my hopes for more-than-6-player MVM, seeing as the bots will take player slots. :(

Adjusting the number of slots for the Gray team will make it too easy, as the waves will be gimped. Though I guess such a mod could give HP and damage boosts to the bots.

On the bright side, this means 32-player servers may become officially supported.

It will be interesting to see how this works on the back-end. It may allow for custom maps with 3 teams. O_o That would make for some freaking insane KOTH.

I will probably rig the funhouse server for MVM, as the small playercount will require keeping it private. Also due to small counts, this is not something I see doing regular nights for, so it will be mainly for ad-hoc games.

Since group restrictions won't be there at drop, I'll password the server.

EDIT: Idea for the ideal MvM class balance:

Standard Waves:

1x Medic - Heals everyone

1x Engie - Creates a fallback position or an Alamo at the cap. Also, given the severe numbers disadvantage, the sentry will be crucial.

1x Heavy - Mows down baby robot toys

1x Soldier - Versatility and Power, a must have.

1x Demo - Powerful weapons that turn robots to scrap metal. Ka-BEWM!

1x Scout - Get behind the frontline, pick the healbots and sentry destroyers, and provide information about enemy movements

In general, the Engie will stay back and tend to his nest. The Medic, Heavy, Soldier, and Demo should stick together. The Scout acts as the vanguard, picking healbots and sentry killers, causing distractions, etc.

Giant Bot Waves:

1x Medic

1x Engie

1x Heavy

2x Soldier - Scout switches to provide more power

1x Demo

Tanks/Bosses:

1x Medic

1x Engie

2x Soldier - Scout switches to provide more power

2x Demo - Heavy switches for better maneuverability and MOAR STICKIES!

Powerups? Sweet!

Personal Ubers and Kritz? Great to get out of a pinch.

Teleport to Base. Useful.

Extra Ammo. Not sure how useful, will depend on ammopack/dispenser availability.

Insta-lvl3 buildings. This could make falling back from a chokepoint manageable.

Weapon upgrades.

Faster rockets, more overhealing, faster medic charging.

Buff Banner entire team, not just radius.

Heavy can get upgrades to penetrate enemies and shoot down projectiles.

Engie can get a second minisentry if upgraded.

Jarate and Madmilk slow enemies

Kritz Canteen increases sentry DPS

All sniper weapons penetrate

Headshots = Ka-BEWM!

Airblast power increased, flareguns buffed

Spies can sap groups of robots

None of these make me change my class balance.

I have to work today, so it will be unlikely I get a server up at drop.

Also, the likelihood of this update breaking sourcemod is almost guaranteed. (Every major update breaks it, and this one is a hell of a major update)

I'll have both servers up ASAP, but that doesn't mean immediately. I can only work on it after work, and busted Sourcemod will delay as well. There will be no HLStats on the MVM server.

Also, when they release the ability, the server will be restricted to members of the SFO steam group, so join the group if you want access to the server. Until then, it will be password protected.
